This is a gorgeous doll and great for a young and/or new collector. The faux turquoise jewelry is a wonderful detail. Her facial feautures are lovely. It also gives some interesting historical/cultural information on the back of the box.If you like barbies, especailly native american barbies she is a nice, not too expensive, addition to your collection.

WE LIVE ON THE BORDER OF THE NAVAJO NATION. MANY OF THE OLDER FEMALE NATIVE AMERICANS WEAR CLOTHES LIKE THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. NOW WHEN IT COMES TO THE PRINCESS OF THE NAVAJO...HERE WHERE WE LIVE SHE IS USUALLY IN A T-SHIRT AND BLUE JEANS BUT WHEN SHE APPEARS AT TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES SHE IS THE CLOTHING OF HER CULTURE. WE HAVE LIVED ON THE BORDER OF THE NAVAJO NATION FOR 23 YEARS AND I FEEL AND WELL AS MY FAMILY THAT THIS BARBIE SHOWS THE CULTURE OF THE NATIVE AMERICANS.

This is indeed a beautiful doll. The expression on her face is one of serenity and peace. Her face is not over the top with make up. She looks like a natural Navajo Native Woman. I applaud Mattel for the feautures of all of the newer barbie. Too pretty.
I reccommend before she becomes exstinct.

I don't care about the packaging or the "educational" material printed on the box. I unbox and redress my Barbies, so I like this doll very much. She has an intelligent face, good hair for restyling, and an outfit that looks good on other dolls and can be mixed and matched. Additionally, her skintone works with many ethnic costumes -- she looks really nice in a sari, for example.
The only thing I rate low on is durability, because of her feet. All the princess dolls have ridiculously tiny feet. They have the proportion of "golden lotus" bound feet.

It's great to see beautiful dolls representing different ethnicities and cultures. While not as glittering and opulent as the other dolls in this series this is still a very lovely doll, rather than create a Bob Mackie style fantasy figure Mattel has wisely chosen to make this doll as authentic as possible. This doll is also a great choice for redressing and looks great in both casual and formal wear. Like most of the Dolls of the World the Navajo princess is an outstanding value.

I was really excited when I saw this Doll, because I'm Navajo. It's something I can let my daughters take into school to share during native American Month. We all like it a lot.

For collectors out there, this is the doll to get. Beautifully crafted and true to her Navajo name. This doll is perfect to add to any doll collection. On the back of the box is a story of Navajo culture and history. It's not only a great doll, but a great buy as well.

New Box Disaster for Collectors,

They changed the box from the previous years. As a collector I am not impressed. The doll is very beautiful, but is now very accessible. Both front and back of the box can be removed and the doll can be "played with". If you buy this from a store, you don't know if it has been NRFB. This would make the value for collecting go down. Plus, now my boxes don't match and look horrible (with the entire collection together). Overall I am very disappointed.
