Grade 3-6 Dolly Parton, star of disc, stage and screen, is highlighted in this short biography. Saunders has obviously consulted many articles and interviews (although they are not listed in a bibliography) and her book is full of pertinent, revealing quotes from Parton and her friends and family. Youngsters will find enough colorful information to catch their interest, while not being overloaded with unnecessary detail. The two major drawbacks are the rather mundane cover and the often choppy, abrupt prose style which becomes tedious. Still, this biography is much more substantial than Keely's Dolly Parton (Creative Education, 1979) and is a good complement toand more up-to-date thanKrishef's Dolly Parton (Lerner, 1980). Ann W.
