A Different but Wonderful Steven King Story,
By Wanderer (Sacramento, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dolores Claiborne (French Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a wonderful mystery that begins in a slow roll, but becomes a page turner. Delores Claiborne, a cranky old maid for a rich lady, tells the story of her life. Highly recommended, but it is not a horror story if that is what you are expecting from Steven King.
Another lightly supernatural book, and different than King's usual stuff, is "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon." This story of a nine-year-old girl lost in the Maine woods is super. Read it! Click here: The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

Excellent Storytelling from a womans view for once,

This review is from: Dolores Claiborne (French Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm a guy and a rabid reader of Stephen King and this one is one of his best. The plot is excellent and for once, a book is told by a woman. I recommend it to anyone!

Even Better Than The Movie,
By Timeless "Timeless" (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dolores Claiborne (French Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
With books like this one from King , you do much better reading the thoughts in the minds of the characters. This one will keep you up at night reading. Another one that i loved. I highly suggest this one.

great book,
This review is from: Dolores Claiborne (French Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is really good. I just finished Stephen King's Geralds game right before this which I recommend reading before you read this so you understand some of what Dolores is talking about the image of "the" girl. This book makes you feel like it is a true story that is why I liked it so much. I can sort of relate to the character dolores some except I didnt do what she did with my husband :). Anyway I would definately recommend this. I would like to see the movie now to see if it compares to the book.

Dolores Claiborne,
By Sarah Lam (Anaheim, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dolores Claiborne (French Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
The important characters in the story are Dolores Claiborne, Joe St. George and Vera Donovan. Dolores is married to Joe. Vera is the boss of Dolores. The time and setting took place in the mid 1900's at Little Tall Island, Maine. Little Tall Island is a tiny green grain standing off in the Atlantic about sixteen miles from Bar Harbor.Everyone did not like Dolores boss, Vera Donovan. Vera acts very sweet at sometimes but can be very demanding. Vera tends to boss everyone around, expecially Dolores. She's mean as well. One time Vera fired these two girls for crying. Dolores wants to kill Vera. One day at work, she fell down the stairs.... Meanwhile, Dolores had another problem of her own. Joe was the problem. He was being a pervert to their daughter, Selena. Joe asked Selena many personal questions that no one needs to know except herself. Dolores and Joe got into many arguements as well and Dolores didnt like it. Dolores went to the bank one day to gather up all the money because she wanted to take her daughter and sons far away from Joe. When she tried to gather $300, the banker had said there are only a few of that money left. Joe had taken the money out already to prevent her from going anywhere. Luckily Dolores worked out everything with the banker and got all the money that was in her account. When Dolores got home, she told Joe... The golden line I wished I would have said was "That was the worst of it, I think- not the fear but the shame." Pg.137 The cover represents the house of Dolores' family. The house and sky represents the bad and awful things that happened in the house. The title of this story means the life of Dolores. I would rate this story 8, if 10 was the highest. I would recommend this book because it was interesting how everything happens to everyone. Although the story wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, there were some twist and action. The story had many nasty things that catches the reader's attention and mind. This story brings the reader to another world once they start reading on.
