5.0 out of 5 stars A Different but Wonderful Steven King Story, July 9, 2007
By RC Carrier "RC" (Sacramento, CA) - See all my reviews
This is a wonderful mystery that begins in a slow roll, but becomes a page turner. Delores Claiborne, a cranky old maid for a rich lady, tells the story of her life. Highly recommended, but it is not a horror story if that is what you are expecting from Steven King.

Another lightly supernatural book, and different than King's usual stuff, is "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon." This story of a nine-year-old girl lost in the Maine woods is super. Read it! Click here: The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

5.0 out of 5 stars dolores claiborne, May 10, 2007
i've heard that stephen king is very good. but when i go to bookstores, i stay away from his works because i know that he is into creepy horror stories. and that's not my liking. but then, one time i went ahead and pick up one book by him and read the summary at the back. it was this book, and upon reading the summary, it seemed to me to be just a mystery suspense thriller (which i like) and not paranormal/horror story. so i purchased it with the intention of finding it out myself how good of an author he is. and i was not dissappointed, dolores and her story is very unforgettable to me. i never pictured her to be a pretty woman, but she's a very strong character. it is definitely a page-turner, although it took some time for me to get used to the way dolores talks, but after a while, you get the hang of it. this is a very good book, one of the best...stephen king proved to me that he is indeed an excellent author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Storytelling from a womans view for once, January 12, 2000
By A Customer
I'm a guy and a rabid reader of Stephen King and this one is one of his best. The plot is excellent and for once, a book is told by a woman. I recommend it to anyone!
