5.0 out of 5 stars The Dolorous Passion, November 19, 2007
This review is from: The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Paperback)
This is an amazing, incredible book that everyone should read. It gives the true story of the Passion of our Lord. I dare you to read it and not believe it is true. This simple uneducated nun speaks with incredible detail of things and places that she could not know anything about logically. This is because her knowledge came to her supernaturally, it was a gift to us, from Heaven

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Moving, January 22, 2007

This review is from: The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Paperback)
This is a book every Catholic should read. It gives so much information about Christ's passion and death, and how he suffered both mentally and physically for all of us. It will increase your faith and also make you wonder why Jesus loves us so much that he was willing to suffer such a horrible death to save us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book, December 27, 2010

This review is from: The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Paperback)
This really is an incredible book, and, I agree, one every Catholic should read. I knew the Passion of the Christ was based on these revelations, and as difficult as that movie was to watch, it was much more difficult, for me, to read and reflect upon. I read it a bit at a time because some of it is distressing, and had intended to give it to our Adoration Chapel, but I think, I will use it for Lenten meditation and get another copy for the Chapel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Follow Our Lord, February 10, 2010

This review is from: The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Paperback)
Follow with Our Lord on His journey. The Author, Anne Catherine Emmrich, really captured my attention through intimate revelations of Jesus Christ. This German nun gave such witness for the suffering and ultimate crucifixion that my mind could actually visualize the event. One of the top 20 books I have ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dolorous Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, June 23, 2009

This review is from: The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Paperback)
This book in the year of 1823 of The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christa Nun's visions ring TRUE!!!. This book should be a companion book to the Holy Bible. Extremely personal as if she was there describing so many details that the Bible doesn't include-like an intimate read of Mary's anquish and so many details of Christ's life and deeds and feelings. An incredible read-and also available at the library as an audio book. I recommend this book if you have not read the Bible lately and even if you are a Biblical scholar. It is an incredible ,intimate time with Jesus Christ's life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ecstasy of Faith, May 7, 2011

This review is from: The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Paperback)
The ramblings of a lunatic? Inward visions of a fanatic? Or the privileged ecstatic visions of the Passion?
Some may even say that this is a blasphemous book that should be shunned.

We believe these visions to be true. A great gift from God to the world. Channeled through a devout nun with absolutely nothing to gain. We believe these visions serve as a springboard of faith. Illuminating the sacrifice which was made for us by Jesus Christ.

What we have here are visionary meditations of various stations of the Passion week. From the Last Supper through the Resurrection. As Catholics we know the story well. And in our readings it may become commonplace. So in that regards this long book shall offer a new angle of vision. A fresh perspective if you will.

Walk with Jesus and the apostles as they wander the countryside. Try to understand the motives behind the luminous actions of the angels. Feel the burden of Judas. Caiphas's indecision. The heaviness of mother Mary's pain. The absolute horror of the unending torture at the hands of the brutal sadist soldiers. We stand powerless at the foot of the cross listening to the many discussions around us. The insulting of His dead body. . . . . Dawns first light on Easter day and the glory of the Resurrection.

This is a great book for all believers to partake in. But beware, Sr. Emmerich has expounded upon the Passion week. She has added abundant discussions and actions through her visions. The spirit of this book is to add to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Not to change the phenomena of the holy week. She does not mean to trample the Gospels, but rather to give testimony to their glory.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I had read this 30 years ago, October 20, 2011

This review is from: The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Paperback)
Whether you believe it word for word or not, the details are stunning and extremely plausible to this layman. Not written in dramatic fashion, but very newspaper-like; which makes it even more believable. Did you ever wonder why Jesus celebrated the Passover on a Thursday? The question never occurred to me; but should have. Sr. Emmerich writes that Nicodemus defends Jesus against this very charge (i.e., celebrating the Passover on a night other than the Sabbath) brought by the Pharisees. Nicodemus states that the Pharisees themselves created this very exception for the Galileans (treated as second-class citizens) in order to relieve the crowding for the Pharisees and others on the Passover sabbath. Thus, Jesus did not violate the prescriptions. I wish I had read this book as a child; I would have had a greater appreciation for the Passion. Get copies for your friends and your kids.
