I'm on my second season with my Maytronics M5 and it has made my pool experience very enjoyable. It does require the owner to be responsible and sensible. This is an automated pool cleaner and like any piece of advanced equipment, it needs to treated with respect and properly maintained. If you're the type of person who drives your car until the tires are bald or hardly ever gets an oil change, you may want to stick to something cheap with mediocre performance.
I live in the Midwest where the pool season is 4 to 5 months long and it cleans at least twice a day. My pool is smooth white gunite and about 36 ft long. I have a basic chlorine system that uses tablets and I keep the temp around 78 degrees F. If you have a liner or pebblecrete finish, ask your dealer if it will effect the performance.
There is no extra pump or hoses needed, you will need a standard 120 volt outdoor plug with Ground Fault protection that is at least within 10 to 15 feet of the pool side. You cannot use an extension cord for obvious reasons. Consult with an electrician if you need to have a GFI plug installed near you pool. The electrical current going from the portable docking station to the cleaner in the pool is actually 36 volts DC, so there won't be any horror movie electrocutions. Always consult with a certified Dolphin dealer to make sure this model is for you.
The unit comes standard with a little rolling "docking Station" dolly carrier, it's kinda cheap looking, but does the job. I roll the unit out and plug into to my standard GFI about five feet from the back of the house and the walk the cleaner to the side of the pool while carefully unraveling the power cord from the carrier. The cord for the cleaner can be on the concrete, but you must take care not to run over it or drag it.

Maytronics replace cord twice, adjust swivel, leave cord in sun... but cord still tangles into a ratnest. Little real support from Maytronics. This is not my first pool or first robotic cleaner. Used on a 55k gallon pool....

This product was great for the first two weeks, and then the power supply died. Took it to a local dealer that confirmed this and also told me that the company produced a bad batch of power supplies that is hasn't recalled...really? Do a recall you turkeys! It also blew a circuit in my house that i now have to call an electrician to fix.

ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN THE BOX SHOWS UP THERE'S A SIGN ON IT THAT SAY 'WARRANTY VOID IF PURCHASED ONLINE." HOW IS THIS OK?!

Next step is to call Home and Leisure Superstore and ask them how they will make this right. Then I'll call Maytronics. Hopefully the do the right thing.
