My boy asks to be read this book again and again. He loves to recognize the characters and clearly relates to Dolphin and her dilemma. This is fascinating to me, because each character defines a unique personality type -- and my son is definately a "dolphin." Perhaps he felt "stuck up a tree" when he first began attending school. This book is about teamwork and respect for others -- and I'm so pleased that he's learning these qualities while enjoying his favorite book.

This book has no better time to arrive than now. With people all over the world fighting, this book illustrates to children the power of collaboration and teamwork. The author uses century-old insights to convey a simple message---valuing different perspectives and including those perspectives is invaluable. I recommend this book to any educator--teacher, parent, or any adult---that wants to spread the message of valuing differences. It is truly needed if we are going to succeed as members of a global community in the 21st century.

An excellent book to help children learn the importance of cooperation and tolerance. I think this book would be particularly helpful in a family with two or more children as it emphasizes the importance of getting along with your siblings. The book presents a wonderful opportunity for parents to discuss all of these topics. I highly recommend it.

A Dolphin Up A Tree by Kimberly Foster is a wonderful book for young children. It works as entertainment and education. It successfully conveys important truths for the need to work together while recognizing our differences from one another. It's also a good story with interesting and colorful characters.
Beautifully illustrated and packaged, I am recommending "Dolphin" to all my friends with young kids.

My daughter laughs every time we read the book. She talks about it often. When she is frustrated she says she is a dolphin up a tree. What a great way to illustrate a feeling. Great pictures too!

The author uses so many exclamation points throughout this short story that I felt like I "was supposed to feel" that every idea was novel, urgent or overwhelming. Yes, the IDEAS of cooperation and problem-solving are good things. However, we found the presentations of both the concepts and the illustrations, as simple-minded and uncreative. For us, it fell flat. It didn't engage us and we've returned it.
