Gr. 2-4. With large, full-color photographs on every other page, entries in the Naturebooks series have plenty of visual appeal to attract young readers. The texts use a question-answer approach. A simple question appears at the top of the page, accompanied by a short answer offering information on characteristics, habitat, food preferences, young, etc. The material is well-presented, but it is not detailed enough for even simple research. Children interested in a particular animal will have fun looking at the pictures, but librarians can consider this an additional purchase. A short glossary and a list of Web resources will lead interested kids onward. Heather Hepler
