5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!!
This album is a nihilistic, doom metal masterpiece, and its about time somebody re-released it! Runhild's guttural vocals (you'll swear its a man!!) are the centerpiece of the album and the music led by Stephen O'Malley of sunn0))) and Burning Witch, is some of the heaviest, sludgiest metal ever recorded. Just put this on and trip out!

Thanks Southern Lord!

I love slow sludgy doom as much as the next guy, but the fact remains that this record is a very boring, one-dimensional, one-trick pony. All it really has going for it is the sheer novelty factor of Runhild. Once the whole cute factor of this beautiful girl growling wears off you realize that she has absolutely no pitch definition whatsoever, every sound she makes is...

All hail southern lord and Steve O'Malley!

Just an inquiry: Is this CD the reissue with the live video footage?

4.0 out of 5 stars Thorr's Hammer - 'Dommedagsnatt' (Southern Lord), August 30, 2009
This review is from: Dommedagsnatt (Audio CD)
Good, 32-minute EP by this no-holds bar U.S. doom metal band. Four well mixed demos here, as the best cuts are the in-your-face "Norge" and the live track - the twelve minute "Mellom Galgene". Amazing factor here is to discover that the lead vocalist (from Norway) - Runhild Gammelsaeter (stage name: Ozma) REALLY is a woman. First time I've ever heard a female crooner with that deep of a growl in their pipes. Might appeal to fans of the Obsessed, Burning Witch and Goatsnake.

Thorr's Hammer were amazing!! All they ever released was this through Southern Lord Records, and now with the re-release theres a (very rough) CD ROM video to watch from one of their gigs!
This is sheer Doom, almost backwards it's so slow, heavy as hell with the GROWLIEST female vocals I've ever heard in my life! HIGHLY recomended if this is your sort of thing :) I really wish they did more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing doom metal, nothing else., September 12, 2004
This review is from: Dommedagsnatt (Audio CD)
Compared to Runhild, Angela Gossow sound like a scared labrat. She has one of the best throats in the doom-metal scene, believe me! And for the music, WOW! Think of Winter with that singer from Incantation and you've got it right. This is probably among the heaviest doom records ever made. Too bad the live-track "Mellom Gallgene" wan't recorded in the studio 'cause it's the best song on the album, though the other songs are still amazing. Buy or die.

I love slow sludgy doom as much as the next guy, but the fact remains that this record is a very boring, one-dimensional, one-trick pony. All it really has going for it is the sheer novelty factor of Runhild. Once the whole cute factor of this beautiful girl growling wears off you realize that she has absolutely no pitch definition whatsoever, every sound she makes is exactly the same as the one before with the only variation being the length of the growl. So who really cares if her looks belie the sound she makes? This stuff is incredibly boring to listen to and it's only enjoyable for about the first song. After that it's just an annoyance. I wanted to like it, and certainly there are talented people in the band, but you can do much better in this genre of music. This one's little more than a gimmick.
