5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best CDs you've never heard
Don't Come Easy was one of those CDs I stumbled upon... well, actually my cousin did. He picked it up after seeing the video for "Forever Young", and played the disc for me one weekend. I've been hooked ever since... and DCE remains one of my favorite CDs. Tyketto was one of those bands who just didn't get the break they needed. If DCE was released one year...

3.0 out of 5 stars Inconsistent, but contains some amazing AOR/melodic rock
Tyketto was at their best (or at least their most consistent) on their very last album Shine with singer Steve Augeri, currently with Journey. However, they started out with vocalist Danny Vaughn (ex-Waysted), who is a great talent in his own right. Fans of the softer side of melodic metal - Harem Scarem, White Lion, Night Ranger, Danger Danger, etc. will really get...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best CDs you've never heard, July 20, 2000
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
Don't Come Easy was one of those CDs I stumbled upon... well, actually my cousin did. He picked it up after seeing the video for "Forever Young", and played the disc for me one weekend. I've been hooked ever since... and DCE remains one of my favorite CDs. Tyketto was one of those bands who just didn't get the break they needed. If DCE was released one year earlier there is no doubt in my mind they would have been huge... but unfortunately the market was already saturated by the time they released this. DCE is solid rock, with heavy harmony and guitars. Danny Vaughn's, former lead singer of Waysted, voice is one of the best you'll hear, and each song is well written. "Wings", "Nothing But Love", "Strip Me Down", "Burning Down Inside" will satisfy your need for rock, and "Standing Alone" will quickly become one of your favorite ballads. It's a tragedy Geffen didn't know how to market this band. If you like straight-up rock 'n' roll, you owe it to yourself to purchase DCE. While you're at it, buy lead singer Danny Vaughn's new CD Soldiers and Sailors on Riverside. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars The absolute best voice in all of music, March 24, 2005
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
Aside from that there is a bunch of great songs that show true passion. I just love this guy Danny Vaungh's voice. He combines the heart of Jack Russell, the Talent of James Labrie, the vibrato of Ronnie James Dio and the smarts of Jon Bon Jovi.

As for the songs. There is not too much to say other than the fact there there is ten of the best songs from 1991 that you may not have ever heard. Well writen and well played. The opening "Forever Young" is one of those story songs in the stlye of Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer" with just more flare. The next track "Wings" is a treat. Standing Alone, the records ballad is jammed packed with raw emotion

I hate to waste the whole album by telling all there is to tell. Buy this CD and you will have a unknown classic if there ever was one

5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic Rock Masterpiece, August 8, 2006
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
Of all the bands that were unjustly overlooked in the early 1990's, none deserved the spotlight more than Tyketto. The band's debut album Don't Come Easy was an AOR/melodic rock masterpiece, embodying everything good about that style of music, and should have vaulted the band into the same arena as bands like Damn Yankees, Bad English, Firehouse, and Giant. Instead they went largely unnoticed.

Released in 1991, Don't Come Easy grabs you from the first song and doesn't let go. This is first class AOR all the way, led by Danny Vaughn (ex-Waysted) and his amazing voice. He has such a warm and powerful voice that I would consider as one of the best in the business.

With a couple of exceptions, the songs on Don't Come Easy are extremely well written. I don't care for the Warrant-esque Lay Your Body Down or Strip Me Down, but the rest of the album is close to perfection. In fact, every song on the album's first side could have been hit singles. They would have if the band had received the attention they deserved, at any rate.

Don't Come Easy remains not only the best Tyketto album, but one of the better AOR/melodic rock albums of that era. If you enjoy the bands listed above, or old-school AOR acts like Journey and Foreigner, you're definitely going to want to add this to your collection. It's not cheap, but sometimes the best things "don't come easy."

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Come Easy Rocks!, December 7, 2003

This is a terrific CD. I had it in the early 90's when you could pick it up in a "bargain bin" for $5.00. Hard to find now, and a little more expensive-but worth it! "Forever Young," "Wings" and "Burning Down Inside" are great songs! The guitar riffs are very reminiscent of Ratt! Not sure why this CD did not do better as it was produced by Richie Zito who has also worked with Cheap Trick and Heart! Great driving music!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Come Easy - Easy on the Ears, June 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: DONT COME EASY (Audio CD)
One of the best CDs to have been released and extremely hard to find. If you're tempted to buy this, don't hesitate. From the lead off song "Forever Young" this band's music grips you and takes you to another world. Their style is good old fashioned hard rock meets bluesy country. Songs "Wings" and "Walk on Fire" are beautiful love songs - metal style. For the traditional ballad, there's "Standing Alone" which could be right up there with Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home" or Warrant's "Heaven". "Lay Your Body Down" is an incredible track about sex, what else? I saw this band live quite a few times years ago and this CD sounds exactly the way I remember them. Don't Come Easy is exactly that - very hard to find because everyone who knows of Tyketto has got to have this CD and there aren't enough to go around. This band was one of the best to come out of the 90's and the proof is on the debut CD.

This is one of those rare CDs that keeps you interested from beginning to end. The music never seems to age! The quality is comparable to the old Boston albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest Album, March 26, 2000
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
I'm a hard rock fan and I know a lot of hard rock bands, but Tyketto is the most favorite . The guitar arrangement are precises and the danny's voice are powerful and very melodic. I love this band, you have to get this album, it's great.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rock & Roll heart of Gold, March 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
I bought this C.D. by a fluke really, did not know the band, nor did I know it's country of origin or the type of music that they played. The first time I played it through, I was truly astounded as a musician and deeply moved as a music lover. Danny, the vocalist should never stop singing or writing. Listening to this band, I quickly realized that the heart of rock 'n roll still beats strongly but in today's music one needs to tear back the layers of flack in order to reach a truly solid gold, vain of great musicianship. Buy this C.D. and by the end of the week you will be screaming for more Tyketto! I can only hope that there are new releases which I will be ordering, give me more vision, history and knowledge of this truly remarkable rock 'n roll band. Rock on boys!

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising CD, Great good time rock and rock!, December 22, 1998
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
I have been a huge UFO and MSG fan for almost 20 years. In the mid-80's a UFO offshoot band named Waysted appeared and on their last album they had a great young singer name Danny Vaughan. The cd was great and Danny was very good live. Just recently I had chatted with someone on line and found out that Danny sang with Tyketto. He sent me a copy to listen to and I fell in love with this cd. All the other reviews are true about this album. If the opening cut Forever Young does not get to you and rock you, then you are clearly not a fan of rock and roll!
