5.0 out of 5 stars Fat Joe hits hard, just this once
Fat Joe lit up with a classic here. After his first few albums were nothing to gawk at, it looked like he decided to switch up the style. And it was for the very best. This album is straight fire with cuts like "Don Cartegena", "John Blaze" (classic), and "Crack Attack". It definitly showed that Joe spent a lot of time crafting his flow and...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Last "Official" Fat Joe Album....3.5 Stars
After 2 successful gems(Da Gangsta Represent and Jealous One's Envy)....the fat one may have possibly put out his last "good" album with 1998's Don Cartagena....backed by quite possibly every A-list producer at the time and guest appearances by everyone who was well established in the game might make this a gem to the minds of many. However, unlike its 2 predecessors, I...

Fat Joe lit up with a classic here. After his first few albums were nothing to gawk at, it looked like he decided to switch up the style. And it was for the very best. This album is straight fire with cuts like "Don Cartegena", "John Blaze" (classic), and "Crack Attack". It definitly showed that Joe spent a lot of time crafting his flow and lyrics because his flow is ON POINT. John Blaze includes some guests, namely Nas, Raekwon, Big Pun, and Jadakiss. How that track didn't get more play is anyone's guess. A nice laid back track with a feel good beat is "My World", which also features Big Pun. Switch it up and you've got a very hot and rugged track "Terror Squadians" which features the Terror Squad. Just straight freestyling over a hard beat by Joe and the Terror Squad. Bone Thugs drop in for "Good Times" which is another feel good track which talk about the good times in their lives. Unlike Joe's other 4 or 5 albums, this one does not miss by any stretch of the imagination. Hip hop fans will be clinging to this for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of Pun's, I Mean Fat Joe's Best Work, September 1, 2004
This review is from: Don Cartagena (Audio CD)
This album is so good it kinda sounds like Pun wrote it, oh that's right Pun did write the whole album. Don't believe me just compare this album to J.O.S.E and Loyalty you'll hear the difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars his last best album that he made before cool & dre got to his head, January 28, 2006
This review is from: Don Cartagena (Audio CD)
to me fat joe is an average mc,mainly because he doesn't write his own lyrics but to me this album is hot, mainly because of the production choices, but when you here this album some of the beats that you hear sounds like something big pun would use and it would fit him better,im not hatin on joe but im just saying, this album is hot because this is when big pun was alive and big pun would never let fat joe make garbage like he does now,and this is terror squad first appearance i believe, word of advice joe go back with ditc man at least you would come out with hot songs, recomended for fans of terror squad, fat joe, and big pun. standout tracks are The Crack Attack, and The Hidden Hand

This is definately an album to get before school starts. Fat Joe is back with his 3 album. A complete set featuring many big name artist. Including on a track called "John Blaze" which features, Nas, Jadakiss Of The Lox, Raekwon of Wu tang Clan, Big Pun, & Prodigy Of Mobb Deep. It's a great collabo. And a definate must get for the year. I met Joe about a year ago in a sneaker store. He's real cool people too. Aiight...

4.0 out of 5 stars I Can Dig This., July 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Don Cartagena (Audio CD)
Fat Joe is back with a new sound; there are some hot tracks on here even though there are some poor ones too. The hottest track is definitely "John Blaze", which features Nas, Big Punisher, Jadakiss, and Raekwon. The poorest track is "Make Sh*t Better". The track "Good Times", with Bone is real good. "Don Cartagena" isn't that bad, but Puffy ruins it. It still isn't bad, though. "My World" and "All Love" are really good. This album is good, nothing spectacular, but GOOD.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Last "Official" Fat Joe Album....3.5 Stars, March 23, 2007

However, unlike its 2 predecessors, I found this one alot more to be desired after track 2(The Crack Attack). However, the posse cuts "Triz" and "Terror Squadians" are 2 of the best posse cuts I have heard in quite sometime there is evidence of Joe falling into the "let me brag on how much money I have....glitz and glamour category" that has was becoming the talk of the town during the late 90's. It's unfortunate that many mainstream artists change with the times no matter how long they have been around. However, Joe still maintains a very decent flow on this album and Terror Squad's guest appearances may be what keeps this release above water.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fat Joe - Don Cartagena, November 25, 2006
By
Tha Realest (Greensburg, PA USA) - See all my reviews

Taking three long years out of the game, Fat Joe finally returns with his third solo album, "Don Cartagena" in 1998. The follow-up to his 1995 classic, "Jealous One's Envy," Fat Joe is out to prove once again he is one of the greatest New York rappers to ever grace the mic. Can this album follow in the same path as his last release or will it fail to live up to the hype?

Wow Fat Joe released another classic album with this release. The production is all banging and Fat Joe's flow is just awesome. He does have lots of guest features on here and he only has two solo tracks but every track is good or great. Check it out if your a fan of his, Terror Squad or New York rap.
