5.0 out of 5 stars A haunting melody winds through it.
This soundtrack is golden because it is different from most in that the theme "Have you ever loved a woman?" weaves in and out of each arrangement in the entire soundtrack. Having said that, the music is definitely NOT redundant. Though this was a complaint from a reviewer here, I felt each track unique and able stand on its own merit. Most soundtracks...

2.0 out of 5 stars This is a one song soundtrack, unfortunately.
Bryan Adams is good and the Mexican tunes are great, but let's be honest: this is a single not a soundtrack. The best song by far is the Mexican version of "Have you ever...", but it is a paltry two minutes long and clipped short at the end. Come on folks, what's the deal? Was the CD running out of space or something, or did Bryan A. not want to be...

Most soundtracks require a knowledge of the movie before you can understand it, but every "Don Juan DeMarco" track in the CD has a beginning and an ending. It has the feel and magic of an opera. I have recommended the CD to many others and have given it was a gift. It was/is enjoyed by everyone in my little world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful music, December 8, 2000
This review is from: Don Juan DeMarco : Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The music on this album is enchanting. Anybody who loves Spanish / flamenco music, will love this. The song by Bryan Adams has to be one of the most romantic songs ever written. And the theme of that song runs throughout the score, but certainly not in overkill. A lot of people I know bought the album on the strength of Adams' song alone, and then were disappointed that the rest of the album did not have more songs like it on there. So what people must remember is is that this is a score from the movie. If you don't particularly want a movie score but do want the song, then I recommend buying the Bryan Adams album '18 Till I Die' which has 'Have you ever really loved a Woman' on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real Spanish-flavoured "Don Juan", May 28, 2002
This review is from: Don Juan DeMarco : Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I liked this CD really much, and not only because Bryan Adam's song. It is very good indeed, but, as a matter of fact, the incomplete Spanish version that appears in the Soundtrack is even better. If it had been longer ..... But, nonetheless, what is really important is the incidental music, and it depicts very well the Spanish style to which Don Juan is related. Even though in theory the main character is supposed to be Mexican, and thinks to have lived in the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico), most of the music is pure Spanish, and even the great Paco de Lucía plays the guitar. The musical work of Mr. Kamen cannot be better. And when the time comes to use Mexican melodies, the composer knows how to make differences between the musical traditions of both Spain and Mexico, and there is no missunderstanding nor confusion. Only Alfred Newman composed comparable Spanish music for Hollywood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classical and Sexy - My All Time Favorite Soundtrack, June 23, 2003

I, too, bought this CD because of the Bryan Adams' song, but this soundtrack goes so far beyond what I was expecting. I've owned it for years, and every time I listen to it, I am sucked in. I commute an hour each way to work, and can hear the whole CD from beginning to end, and it never fails to brighten my mood. As a matter of fact, I planned and rehearsed my wedding based on tracks 8 through the end! The music was perfectly suited to our simple, but elegant affair. Not only is it beautifully romantic, it ebbs and flows with moments of fun. I highly recommend you listen to this one over and over to really appreciate its magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars one great sound track, December 26, 2003
This review is from: Don Juan DeMarco : Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I don't buy soundtracks regularly, only the ones I really really love like Braveheart, all the Rings music, Name of the Father and Raise the Titanic. So this ranks up there with my all time favourites. It's a wonderfully romantic, spirit lifting soundtrack, with Brian Adams marvellous lead Have You Ever Really Love of Woman. This is a soundtrack I just do not tire.

So if you loved the movie, I am sure you will enjoy all the wonderful tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant, Fabulous And Moving., September 27, 1999

I was entranced by the soundtrack to "Don Juan DeMarco." I was especially touched by the first song, "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?" I was moved to tears. I've been in love with a girl named Nichole Lester for the past 5 years! And the song kind of reflected my emotions. This is a good sign because it proves Kamen's talent and efficiency. Still, I cried and couldn't stop thinking of my darling Nichole. I loved this soundtrack and hope many other people do as well. This is, a masterpiece. I especially loved the Latin aspects considering I myself am Colombian.

I do like "Bryan Adams", and this is one of his better songs, but I often start this disc on track two. Whether or not this reminds you of the movie, it's just a very enjoyable 9 tracks of beautiful spanish guitar. Many of them keep with the "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" melody. If you like this cd, you might also enjoy the "Brothers McMullen" soundtrack. It starts with a great "Sarah McLachlan" song, and the rest is great traditional irish music. It's also very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nydia Rojas Sings on this CD!!!!!!!!, January 26, 2008

The talented Nydia Rojas sings on this cd on the song "Has Amado Una Mujer De Veras?", that's the Spanish version of "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman". She doesn't sing the song alone, she is accompanied by Michael Kamen and Jose Hernandez. I think if she did sing it alone, the woman would have completely dominated the entire song!!!! The song is beautiful and her voice is very lovely, as always. Nydia Rojas always does a great job in bringing to life any song she is in. Nydia Rojas, YOU ROCK GIRL!!!!! If you enjoyed this music then I know you will enjoy her music. You should also treat yourself to her music, she has four CD's out, the titles are: 1.)Nydia Rojas (1996) 2.)Florecer (1997) 3.)Si Me Conocieras (1999) 4.)Nydia (2001)

5.0 out of 5 stars one song soundtrack? I don't think this is Titanic buddy!, August 17, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Don Juan DeMarco : Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This album is full of pure and beautiful spanish and mexican music played with an acoustic guitar full of catchy melodic hooks and the beautifully written ballad Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman which was a monster hit in 1995. The rest of the album is nothing like that though it's a musical score of the movie soundtrack, it's not a bunch of tracks from pop artists, you'll have to check out waiting to exhale, another successful movie soundtrack of 1996 for that. If any soundtrack is a one song one, it's Titanic cause honestly what else is good on that soundtrack other than the overplayed my heart will go on?
