4.0 out of 5 stars A good read!, January 19, 2006
By
This review is from: The Don Juan Con (Hardcover)
Sara Williams is a former newspaper reporter and columnist, and Don Juan Con is her first book.

Angie Reynolds, Florida boutique owner and decorator, and the widowed mother of eleven-year-old Jason, meets dashing and flamboyant lawyer Anthony Abruzzi. He seems wealthy beyond her wildest dreams, and honest and kind. His is the world of Armani suits, Gucci handbags, private jets, and celebrities.

Angie agrees to marry him after knowing him only a short time. And--he fails to show up to pick her up on their wedding night. The next day she finds out her bank account was cleaned out as she had given him access to deposit large checks (which bounced).

She loses her home, her business, and nearly loses her mind, too, but she holds it together for her son's sake, with the help of police Detective Joe Vensure, who does everything he can to help her track down this crook.

Angie's creative skills link "Anthony" to a murdered woman in a nearby town, and as time goes on, Angie and Joe discover many other women that "Anthony" conned out of their money after only a few days.

The chase gets more and more tense as the authorities close in on him in Memphis. Then Angie and her son Jason come upon him (after he's had extensive plastic surgery) in the most unlikely of places--living near Angie's mother in the San Juan Islands.

Armchair Interviews says: This first book is dramatic, action packed, exciting and scary. Despite the "Don Juan Con," even romantic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Villain, September 11, 2004
This review is from: The Don Juan Con (Hardcover)
Well written, this book is easy to get caught up in. Sara William's strikes gold with her villain and gets inside his head. She points out how easily someone can be conned and how difficult it can be to seek justice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its a ride!, January 22, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Don Juan Con (Hardcover)
Its nice to read a book that is both integral and entertaining. The author has you guessing up to the end with lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed 'getting to know' the charactures and almost felt like cheering the women on.

5.0 out of 5 stars great holiday read!, November 11, 2011
This review is from: The Don Juan Con (Kindle Edition)
This is a wonderful mystery with a villain you love to hate. The reality that this really can and does happen just makes the book all that more enjoyable. With the holidays coming, this is a great book to bring along, read on the beach or in front of that cozy fire. And then, just check twice that your jewels are all safe away... Ms. Williams has written a few other mysteries. What I enjoy about her books is the detail to location. Lots of rich details about the towns and cities the characters prance through on their adventures and travels. This adds another dimension to the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars EDUCATIONAL AND ENTERTAINING, December 8, 2006
This review is from: The Don Juan Con (Hardcover)
All women should read this important book. The story deals with a slimy con man who preys upon lonely women. As a reader, you'll realize how easily this could happen to yourself or someone you know. The story takes on more thriller characteristics as the villain's relationship to our heroine is revealed. Thank goodness for Angie, who wants to catch the man who deceived her. But as she hunts his trail, she learns things about herself best left forgotten. It's a fast suspenseful read about a subject that could touch any one of us. Sara Williams has done her homework. The settings are real, the people compelling, and the story will make you wary of who you meet.
