4.0 out of 5 stars A pretty good boxing sim, June 17, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Don King Presents: Prize Fighter (Video Game)
Let me just say that I love boxing and am a sucker for any and all boxing games - from Mike Tyson Punch-Out (NES) to Evander Holifield "Real Deal" boxing which is probably my all-time favorite (Sega Genesis) to all of the Knockout Kings (PS1) to all of the Fight Nights - Round 2 was my favorite - (PS2/Xbox 360)to this game. When I opened it up, created my fighter, and "Rocky Balboa" lost his first 5 fights (in career) I was ready to put a spike through it. My review would have been much different. I gave it a chance and never looked back (and yes "Rocky" did become Heavyweight Champion of the World). I loved the game and the story (which is much better - surprising? - than Fight Night Round 3). I can't wait to create another fighter and start again.

Pros: Great story! You feel like you are in a move (a Rocky movie?) with live action video from your cut man, manager, promoter(s), as well as Don King himself.

Cons: Only 2 really: the graphics. Fight Night Round 3 definetely has better greaphics. The controls were different - although I got used to using the triggers to throw punches.

If you like boxing and boxing games you should pick this one up - especially at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love It..., April 27, 2009

This review is from: Don King Presents: Prize Fighter (Video Game)
this game is absolutely Beautiful...and not because of the Fighting alone..but because of the Excellently done Career Mode. it is simular to Def Jam Icon or the Superstar mode in Madden. it makes you WANTT to progress through the game just to see what happens next...as you choose rather to train or spend time doing various other recreational activites with other friends or girlfriends...and the storyline really does keep you immersed in it...as becoming the champion is not the end of your journey. it really does feel like a Boxing Career.

as far as the Boxing itself, it flows Well. it can be somewhat Slow at times..but doesnt ruin the experience of the game much at all. once you find what punches work for you and start to put together combinations, they really do flow beautifully and do appropriate damage. this is in no way an Arcade boxing game, youv got to box strategicly if you want to win...as button mashing will get you KO'd. i play the game on the easiest mode, as i hate having to be beaten and repeat fights over and over..but there is still a relevant challenge from the cpu. the Knockouts are just as good as those seen in Fight Night 3..but the fighting is wayy more Fluent than fight nights. online is fun as well...theres no lagg or slowdown to speak of.

overall, pick up this game if you love boxing and love a good Storyline, you wont be dissapointed at all, i am glad i gave it a chance..

iLL .

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than I Thought, January 31, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Don King Presents: Prize Fighter (Video Game)
I heard about this game and thought it was terrible until i played it myself. this game is on par with fight night round 3 and just as good as any Boxing game that has come out. you will get frustrated in the Beginning which probably is where most people are in there reviews this game really makes you "work" like if you do not block or are prepared to block you will be flat on your butt tapping the "A" button to get back up i find myself now realizing you just cannot button smash you really need to find openings to punish your opposition or you will be strategically picked apart like in a real boxing match i am sure after while you will perfect your strategy to win the matches but in the Beginning you will be pissed for taking the punishment that the "ai"dishes out . Graphics are VERY GOOD... great commentary on point and the game will be better with future releases and will challenge EAsports just like every other 2k product ever put out.pick this one since it is dirt cheap because of the Bad reviews.. and with some patience you will have a fun boxing experience and be pleasantly Suprised playing this pretty decent first run game by 2k sports.
