THE Classic of World Literature,

This review is from: Don Quixote: The Ormsby Translation, Revised Backgrounds and Sources Criticism (Norton Critical Editions) (Paperback)
The best edition of this great work that I have yet to see. The notes are outstanding, the background material useful, and the commentary erudite. A must edition for the serious study of Cervantes.

This review is from: Don Quixote: The Ormsby Translation, Revised Backgrounds and Sources Criticism (Norton Critical Editions) (Paperback)
This is a very good translation but not as good as Edith Grossman's. The best part is the great extra material in the back which are chapters from Amadis of Gaul and Orlando Furioso which give important and succinct background material for understanding Don Quixote. The notes are good too and you can use it as a secondary translation because the Grossman translation does not have notes or background material which you will need; remember this book was written four hundred years ago and it helps to get the reader's horizon that Cervantes was writing for so long ago.
