Bright new perspectives on Winnicott and Bowlby, November 7, 2005
This review is from: Donald Winnicott and John Bowlby: Personal and Professional Perspectives (Paperback)
I so much enjoyed reading this book! These are personal memories of Winnicott and Bowlby, two of the most important British contributors to psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in the 20th century. More than half is written by Judith Issroff, a contemporary who worked closely together with them for many years. Further chapters are added by two more experts. It is written in a lively style, completely brings to life Winnicott and Bowlby, comparing them, contrasting them, doing full justice to both, and supplying many hitherto unknown details of their lives, usually in the form of anecdotes, some funny, some deep and full of wisdom. The book would be useful and enjoyable to read for psychotherapy students as well as practitioners, and is a must for any researchers or future biographers. It contains a vast bibliography of the mushrooming recent literature about Winnicott and Bowlby.
