On the good side this visor is very light and comes with many lenses and a good case. Optical quality is good with little distortion. Adjustment is quick and simple. It is made almost entirely out of plastic- including the lens attachment pins which seem to be easy to lose (we have a older single lens model and the pins are long gone). It comes in a nice case but needs to be adjusted all the way tight to fit in. The headlamp battery case does not clip on very well and the first time I used it the battery case got too hot to touch. All the single lens magnifiers in this line run $32 so I don't see why this costs so much. If you really need this many lenses, bite the bullet, but otherwise I would pick a single lens model to save money.

My eyes aren't quite what they used to be, and this the perfect solution.

I've got a cheapo visor with cheap lenses that have less than perfect optical quality.

The lenses with this set are a night and day difference. Clean and easy to use. Very good optical quality.

I couldn't decide what 'power' lenses I needed so just opted to bite the bullet and get the entire set. I'm glad I did. The case protects the lenses and is a convenient way to store everything.

The adjustable head band works great!

The Donegan OptiVISOR Complete Kit, DA-S1 arrived a few hours after my husband tore apart my tiny, portable, battery-operated clock. I watched him squint at its tiny innards (did I mention it was an itty-bitty clock?), grab a magnifying glass, mumble bad words, close his eyes, and start peering at it again.

I decided it was time to get out of "Dodge City" and headed off to the post office where I discovered the OptiVISOR had arrived. When I returned home and gently plopped the box on the table, my darling husband was more than willing to stop glaring at the clock and immediately try out the OptiVISOR.

He adjusted the headband, tried out different lenses, put batteries in the light gizmo, perched that puppy on his head and was up and running. The mumbling of bad words ceased and he was happily humming. A little Corrosion Blocker here, a little soldering there, and Whamo-Bammo, the clock was repaired.

And he didn't stop there. He had a bunch of repair jobs he'd been putting off because it was hard to see what he was doing. He finally caught up with the repair jobs and then I was allowed to use it. Yea!!!

I ordered the Complete Kit because there are so many different things to use these lenses for and I didn't know what focal length I'd need for each job. The greater the magnification needed, the closer the object has to be to your eyes. Sometimes that can be a hard trade-off to make.

I spent a week reading and comparing the costs of either buying a single headset with one lens plus additional lenses if I discovered I needed them, or buying the complete kit. The kit won. One of the deciding factors was that the lenses in the kit are GLASS, not plastic.

Why did I decide to buy the OptiVISOR?

Better than expected. The magnifying lens is made of glass rather than plastic. This do not get scratch easily. The optics are clear and very comfortable to use. The price is reasonable. It is worthy buying this product.

I was going to use an "old lady" magnifier. No offense ladies, my mother used one for needlepoint so that is why I call it that. This kit was the only one of its kind for the Optivisor. I also ordered the LED lights which work well along with the single light this comes with. I use it for anytime I need close up work. The multiple lenses are just great and it all fits nicely in a carrying case. Great quality and a great product.

I bought an Optivisor for my husband who struggles with vision on close up things and loves to play with his ham radio. He is 58. Then Of referred an older gentleman to this since he is losing his vision. He really wanted to get the complete set. This is what we learned.

It is not an easy thing to change out the lenses for him. He is 84. He truly can't do it himself at all. The lenses are held in place with plastic pieces that you have to squeeze and pop out and even I have a tough time with it!

The light unit included is cumbersome and definitely not worth it. My older friend refused to use it. We then bought him the other light attachment with six LEDs and he much preferred that. But there were other problems associated with that you can see on my comments there. Still in all, the other light unit worked better.

The case has six lenses and five slots. That means you can't have a "home" for each lens that is always the same. If you take out the weakest lens and put in the strongest, you have to move every single one to keep them in order weakest to strongest. This isn't being OCD. This is being organized to make it easier on the blind.

My friend has a large head. It is relatively easy to resize the optivisor to fit his head well. But then it is very tough to put back in the case, particularly with attachments on it. If the Loupe is on, you have to take it off to fit in the case. This is poor planning.

I understand that many will buy this because they work at crafts that require magnification, such as jewelers and artists. For them, it's a great buy.

But this would, with very little effort, be easily tailored to the senior set. It was a senior who recommended this to me in the first place!
