I use the Donegan headset almost daily. I'm 59 yrs old and it helps allot for electronic work and any fine close up. I recommend buying two OptiLoupe lens, one for each side of the headset as it really balances out your close up sight for a better view.
I just have the screw-on hold nuts finger tight right now and they work fine. I'm thinking of using some mild thread loc tite or a small lock washer too, when they start to get loose or won't hold well.
But they are working fine right now without it. Work fine and have sharp focus and clarity.

I added a 2.5x magnifier to both sides of the Optivisor. I use one or other when I need to really focus on something. I collect vintage fountain pens and the Optivisor lets me see all flaws and issues up close. The 2.5x has a screw that replaces the black plastic tab that holds the magnify plate to the headset. I have never had them come loose, but blue Loctite could be applied if an issue arose.

So I bought these for my dad as a Christmas gift and you would think that I had given him a new Corvette.
My dad is a jeweler and previous to these had been using a sort of monocle magnifier to inspect diamonds and fix watches.
I haven't heard him rave about something so much; he absolutely loves them and can only wonder how he operated so long without them.
They are a huge eye saver for delicate and intricate work required when dealing with small parts and jewelry especially.

I have had and used an OptiVisor for years. I recently ordered a different lens plus the OptiVisor. The new lens came with 2 plastic snap-in fasteners to fasten the lens to the visor itself. When the OptiLoup came the next day, I needed to remove one of the fasteners to attach the loupe. I found them to be a real pain to get out and I replaced them with the original #6 x 3/8" machine screws and nuts. If you want to swap between lenses, then use the screws and pitch the plastic fasteners!

This is my only complaint. The unit works very well and the lenses are optical grade glass -- not plastic, although they are available in polycarbonate now. I highly recommend the unit, spare lenses as well as the loupe.

A great aid for being able to see up close. I used this with the Optivisor for thirty years as a tool and die maker.

After trying several brands of visors and being unhappy with the poor quality optics, I bought this model and love it. The optics are sharp and the head band well made. I bought the accessory set of magnifiers and easily attached them too to the headband. They work very well and are a recommended upgrade.

The increase in magnification was exactly what I needed. I would definitely recommend this little magnifier to anyone considering the Donegan LP-1 OptiLoupe.

It's there when I need it, but swivels out of the way when I don't. It's fairly expensive for a magnifying lens, but it works with the already existing magnifier to be much better than either separately. I'm impressed!

I love the Donegan magnifier products. Yes, they're not cheap, but they have glass lenses. This means in the real world, when you put these down on your desk, if they happen to brush up against something, they aren't trash. They resist scratches very well, being glass, so they'll last for decades. I have about six of these at work (used by many) and they're so good I bought myself a pair for home. The work ones have been around for a long time, and seem just like new. The plastic is quality, and won't break without a struggle.
