5.0 out of 5 stars Not fashionable but I can see such detail
I slip this magnifier over my head, tilt it to exactly the right position, then tighten the nuts on the side. The crown can also be adjusted for the size of my head. I purchased this first for detailed jewelry work but have since found that it is well suited for tiny counted cross stitch as well. 5.0 out of 5 stars Not fashionable but I can see such detail, January 20, 2009
I slip this magnifier over my head, tilt it to exactly the right position, then tighten the nuts on the side. The crown can also be adjusted for the size of my head. I purchased this first for detailed jewelry work but have since found that it is well suited for tiny counted cross stitch as well. It does take me time to readjust for the task at hand, but once I get into the swing of it, I'm really good at lifting the magnifier above the crown so I can switch between the detail work and distance sight. I think of it like working with reading glasses, but the magnifier allows for seeing things I cannot see otherwise, like solder melting and flowing or the space between the threads on a tightly woven canvas. I can't imagine not having these and am so happy that the glass magnifier comes in different strengths and is replaceable as my vision changes or should the glass become scratched or broken. I've had this for years with no problems and still use the original lens.

This review is from: Optivisor with Lens Plate 3-1/2 x 4" (Toy)
I chose this magnifier because the lenses are glass, not plastic. The view is crystal clear and distortion free. The 10x lenses are powerful. If you only buy this to assist in removing splinters from fingers, it is worth it! The lenses are interchangable which is good, but the bad part is they are attached to the visor component by using two cheap split studs that are supposed to snap into the holes on the visor. Well, they do go into the holes, but they do not snap and therefore the lense has a tendency to fall out on one side or the other. If you push the visor up for normal view, the lense pop out on one side or both. I remedied this by putting a dot of superglue on the studs and permanently mounting the lense. I don't intend to buy any of the other lenses for the visor, since the 10x is what I need. The glue solved the problem. I wouldn't let this drawback stop me from purchasing the visor again, it's a minor issue. I recommend this optical visor.

These magnifiers make life so much easier!!! My sight isn't what it used to be and whether threading a needle or getting a thorn, I can do things easier. Another great use is tangled jewelry chains. I can SEE!!!!

This is the preferred magnifier for jewelers forever practically. Delivers a good close up image for working with small parts or just getting a closer look at anything small. Durable.Adjustable.

Very handy for doing hard to see work, hobbies and getting out splinters and the like. Optivisor is comfortable, secure and the 3.5x lenses provide excellent magnification for the work that I do. I am also going to buy the 2x lens.

I bought the more expensive one because, while I can't afford the best of everything, when things don't cost too much, I go with the best. For instance, the lenses of the Optivisor are glass, not plastic, so no scratching. It's strongly built, but not heavier than cheaper ones. Now, here's something to consider. The stronger the lens' magnification, the closer you have to hold the thing you're looking at. I bought the highest magnification lens and I have to hold things really close. I'll be ordering a milder lens soon, Wish I'd done that in the first place.
