Loaded the driver, which comes on a mini CD, and it went well. I then downloaded the Freeware version of GooP, which makes Google Earth into a decent GPS. It worked well, easily acquiring the GPS satellites in all conditions. I drove around town with my laptop, and it tracked me within ~15 feet. At no time did I lose GPS. In fact, it even stayed connected in the center of my house. A blinking green LED assures you the device is receiving the GPS signal, which seems backward to me. Blinking should mean "searching", solid should mean "Connected". Oh well, it works, so what do I know? It comes with a ~1 M cable, using USB A male and A female connectors. I figure the cable helps get better reception. I didn't need the cable for reception, but it did keep the dongle out of the way. The dongle runs from 5v USB power as mentioned, but that's neither good nor bad. The dongle does get warm, feeling like it draws 5-10 watts. So it's using a significant amount of power from your laptop battery. Of course you would need a 12v adapter for long trips anyway. It's interesting that this USB device uses a COM port(COM3). That's legacy technology, and was a concern to me. The device worked fine however. They could have hidden the "Searching for COM port" message and I would have thought it used 100% USB resources. 4.5 stars out of 5, .5 points off for poor instructions. It was so easy to install that none were really needed. I'm totally satisfied so far.

This small device is quite amazing!
This GPS Dongle is not much larger than a typical thumb drive.
I installed it on a Windows 7 laptop.
The software was included and the driver updated without issues.
I'm not yet sure as to the accuracy, but it works!
I have a project in mind and so far so good.
Hope you enjoy yours.
