Naughty Democrat stories,
By Christina Lockstein "Christy's Book Blog" (Oconto Falls, WI USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party by Lynn Vincent and Robert Stacy McCain was a bit of a disappointment. The cover and introduction promise stories of crime and misdoings throughout the entire history of the Democrat Party, but much of the book focuses on the last 25 years or so. Scandals involving Roosevelt and other older Dems are glossed over without detail. The writers seem to assume that the reader is already familiar with those events. Much focus is placed on the shenanigans of the Clinton White House, which almost seems to be an issue done to death. Vincent and McCain do bring up several Republican wrong-doers to be fair. I think the writers' strongest point is that while Republicans seem to face up to their crimes or at least have to pay the penalty, Democrats very often do not and are occasionally rewarded for them. This point alone is worth reading the book for.

The slanderers are coming out of the woodwork. Please note that they shy away from offering specifics. Why is this? Well, the answer is an obvious one: in their heart of hearts, they know Lynn Vincent and Robert Stacey McCain are telling the truth about the Democratic elites. The Left generally believes that the end justifies the means. These individuals are relativists to the core. There is presumably no such thing as objective truth. After all, in their way of looking at the world---the Republicans are evil incarnate and deserve to be destroyed by any means available.
Are conservatives perfectly behaved saints? Of course not. The authors would never say anything so ridiculous. Republican, however, usually feel guilty about violating their own ethical code. Moreover, they refuse to look the other way when a hero goes badly astray. No Republican could have survived Ted Kennedy's disgraceful behavior at Chappaquiddick. Their career would have immediately been destroyed. The same holds true concerning the rampant illicit sexual behavior of countless Democratic standard bearers. Democrats are masters of financial chicanery and voter fraud. They are sometimes even willing to partner with gangsters. Numerous Democrats never hesitated to treasonously align themselves with our country's avowed enemies. Convicted criminals, it must also be added, seem to adore the Democratic Party. 68.9% of all felons would vote on behalf of Democratic politicians. And many actually do! This fact alone should appall mainstream voters. Do you want your politicians eagerly seeking the criminal vote? I observed first hand, as a former Model Cities elected official, how the Democratic Party brought Detroit, Michigan down to its knees. This section of Donkey Cons is alone worth the price. Buy a copy. Better yet, you should also purchase a few copies for your friends. David Thomson Flares into Darkness

connect the dots,

This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Lyn Vincent and Robert Stacy McCain manage to connect the dots that prove the democrats are truly the party of jack asses more clearly than any book to date. Beginning with the fugitive Aaron Burr to the mob influence in the Kennedy administration, to Clinton's last act as president giving a pardon to 140 convicts (who for the most part) should still be rotting in prison, Vincent and McCain uncover an almost inherent propensity of the Democratic party towards corruption and moral turpitude at all levels. While showing that corruption is bi-partisan, the Democrats win this election with no recount necessary.

Yes, the author has a point of view.,
By Clymer (Morgan Hill, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Some of the reviewers below criticize this book, essentially, for having a point of view. Unlike the `news', I don't expect all books to be balanced and objective; an author writing a book from a particular point of view is OK with me as long as it's clear the author is stating a point of view.
Other reviewers label the author as a ".. ranting ... lunatic...". It seems that these reviewers are calling the author a lunatic because of his accusations of outrageous behavior - which cannot possibly be true - so he must be a lunatic. I believe this is called "begging the question". Finally one reviewer asserts that the authors footnotes don't check out. Sadly this reviewer gives no examples. As for me, I suggest you read the book yourself and form your own opinions. It just may have something worthwhile to say!

Finally, The True Picture In One Place,

This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Vincent and McCain have brought together a vast number of meticulously-sourced and documented stories that illustrate the extent to which the Democratic Party is and always has been populated by more than its share of outright criminals. But they don't spare Republicans either. They've assembled extensive data on the GOP's criminal members as well. It's not the authors' fault that the Democrats have simply outdone the Republicans in criminal enterprise.
Though the research for this book is scholarly, the authors -- both veteran journalists -- have combined their writing styles into an easy-to-read, story-telling mode that presents the facts and allows the reader to judge his or her own conclusions. There is very little opinion and no sermonizing in this book. Like the old "Dragnet" TV series, the authors have presented "just the facts." And while some of those facts are well-known to most, the authors have uncovered little-known twists in almost every instance that make even these familiar stories (Chinagate, JFK's mob ties) seem like new revelations. For instance, I never knew that J. Edgar Hoover used JFK's extra-marital activities as leverage to force the president to allow Hoover to wire-tap Martin Luther King. This book is a fun, fast read for anybody interested in politics, regardless of party sympathy. I hope these two writers (full disclosure: I was in college with both of them) team up on something else soon. They have a knack for telling stories that other media sources won't.

Fun and Historical,
This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
More than just propaganda. Informative, historical. This book is a cautionary tale for all honest politicians! Crime pays! Old sins go unpunished and diehard party loyalists continue electing corrupt representatives. Sobering look at the voting practices of forgetful Americans. An easy read. Packed with anecdotes.

Chronicles of Democratic Corruption,
By George G. Roberts "Bioinformaticus Maximus" (Madison Heights, MI USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Flies in the face of the popular notion that the Republicans are the party of corruption. Incredibly well researched and footnoted - Cogent and Forceful. No Quarter!
While no book could encyclopedically catalog all of the corruption in the Democrat party, consider this book a rough guide. Vincent and McCain's insightful analysis of Democratic corruption and the enabling role played by the media paints a disturbing picture. At times ridiculing but never becoming a rant, liberal readers will be gratified to see the authors are unafraid to tackle corruption in the Republican party as well. Of particular interest to me as a Metro Detroiter, was the chapter devoted to the Democrat-enabled decline of our nation's cities - no city was hit so hard by rioting and corruption. No intelligent individual who lived through Mayor Coleman Young's administration could question his basic incompetence and corruption. His lowering of standards in police recruitment, openly racist rhetoric, eviction of whites by threats, harassment and eminent domain and corruption in awarding city contracts to cronies and companies with "preferred racial demographics" have had a devastating effect on Detroit, multiplying the effects of the '67 riots. Donkey Cons went to press just before Abramoff was convicted, however the book does offer a fair and reasonable breakdown of the party affiliations of the members of congress who were potentially tainted by receipt of Abramoff money (more Democrats on this list than you might expect). Sadly, among them is Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, who adamantly refuses to give back the tainted "dough" despite the fact that others on both sides of the aisle have already done so. For a taste of the "split-your-sides-laughing" style of the book, go to the <a href=http://donkeycons.blogspot.com>"Official Donkey Cons Blog"</a> - if you like the blog, I think that you will find that the book is even better!

This isn't Fiction..its Fact..,
By Bill Mars (Jersey City, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
I can't believe the reviews on about this book. Some said the GOP is the modern KKK. Its sad to see people forget the long racist history of the Democratic party. Who was the party that consistently upheld slavery? Democrats. Who was the party that supported racial segregation? Democrats. Who is the party that refused to make Lynching illegal? Democrats. We must keep in mind that the Democratic party held the House and Congress for 40 years in recent history. and during that time segregation was rampant. They continually upheld segregation and striked down any legislation that would allow minorities from lifting themselfs up from poverty. They prefer to maintain the status quo by giving welfare and government sustenance but refuse to support programs that will allow poor americans to educate themselfs..what do you think will happen once poor americans educate themselfs and begin to make their own money and own their own property? they will become Republicans!! of course Democrats want to keep African-Americans and other minority groups dependent on the government. As long as that continue Democrats will have a base. Progression will allow these groups to become Republicans. This book is accurate. I've used Lexis-Nexis to research alot of the info presented in this book. And guess what? the research is right!! so once again Which is the party that continually elected a Senator who should have been convicted of Manslaughter? yep you got it the Democrats.

Very interesting and important,
By Tedesco (Cleveland, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Interesting bits are, among others, the very possible connection between Joseph Kennedy (President Kennedy's father), a proven bootlegger, and gangster Al Capone. Also, the mafia's role in getting Franklin Roosevelt elected and of course JFK as well. But by far the most important stuff is the stuff that concerns more current events. The book chronicles how the democrats (like Ted Kennedy) in the early 2000's often advocated the idea of Saddam having stored of biological and chemical weapons. Also, how many democrats advocated Operation Desert Fox which bombed Iraq. This Desert Fox was done under Democratic President Clinton. But when republican President George W. Bush knocked out Saddam's Iraq the democrats predictably (but very wrongly) rallied against him. I just wish this book had been critical of former democrat President Jimmy Carter whose total mishandling of the Iranian situation involving the Shah resulted in the US hostage crises of 1979, the 1,000,000 murdered victim Iran-Iraq War, and a whole lot of trouble for Iranian Jews (80,000 of them at least) under Khomeini(sp?). But a great book this is all the same.

Shining a Light in the Dark,
By Peter Boyer "Perry" (Rome, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
"Donkey Con" is a funny, partisan, well-written, and thoroughly researched book. It shines a light into several dark corners which liberals probably hoped would remain undisturbed (Clinton's sexual shenanigans, Chinagate, Chappaquidick, and the Left's recent, unsettling push to give the vote to convicted felons), but it also takes to task Richard Nixon, Jack Abramoff, and other Republicans caught with their hand in the public cookie jar. Vincent and McCain have a knack for exposing where the bodies are buried and why they were dispatched. I wonder if the reviewer who gave "Donkey Con" one star actually read the book. After all, it is difficult to read if you are blinded by hatred or prejudice.
