I had a very old, very worn, very loved copy of this book and just recently replaced it with this hard cover copy. The book is just as a remember it as a child. The art work is done in beautiful, soft watercolors. The story is about a donkey who is sad because he compares his ears to all the other animals ears in the barnyard. He takes advice from each of them on how to improve his appearance, much to his dismay. The story has a happy ending and is wonderful for teaching children to appreciate themselves and others just as they are.

My husband had this book when he was a child. His mother put it away and saved it for him and now we read it to our girls. The kids love it and as a parent, it is one of my absolute favorites. There are so many children's books I dread reading over and over and over but I really never get tired of this one. The writing and illustrations are charming and it teaches an important lesson. I highly recommend it!

An excellent acquisition libraries need to replace a well worn shelf classic.,

Roger Duvoisin's DONKEY DONKEY tells of a donkey who has the strangest ears on the farm - long, and sticking up straight. He wants a new look - but nobody can agree on how Donkey-donkey's ears should look best. Each farm animal has a different idea! This book first appeared in 1933 and is only the second written and illustrated by Caldecott medalist winner Duvoisin. It went out of print in the late 1970s, so it's an excellent acquisition libraries need to replace a well worn shelf classic.

We ordered the book from England and naturally we were a bit concerned when and what would come if it came at all. To our pleasant surprise, the brand new book came by "Royal Mail" in the timeline they said it would in perfect condition.

Donkey Donkey is a great book that teaches us that we are beautiful just the way we are. Donkey Donkey does not feel like his long ears are beautiful and goes around the farm and all the animals have their own version of how ears should be worn. We read this book every night. Colorful illustrations and my 2.5 yr old knows by heart!
