I recently received this CD and have listened to it several times already. I love it! It is a very nice mix of 50's-60's music that I remember so well. Usually there's at least one song on a CD that I skip past but not on this one. Every song brings back so many plesant memories. I think it is a great value.

Annette Bening indomitably presided over a memorably disastrous middleclass family-dinner meltdown in AMERICAN BEAUTY which culminated in the unfortunate asparagus-throwing episode that forever shattered all complacent notions of family values and solidarity at the perfectly set formal table. Had she possessed and studied this indispensable Pop Culture artifact from 1962-63 she might have averted such mayhem, which the gracious, composed and dignified Donna Reed/Donna Stone would never have tolerated in the first place. Annette programmed "Bali ha'i" in a sorry fit of suburban musical conformity, while the far hipper DJ Mrs. Dr. Stone has all the current hits (including those of her own telly kids)--some now Camelot Era rarities--already stacked on the "console" hifi in "Hilldale." The convenience of the automatic record changer is undeniable, and with this essential DIY anthology you are ready to host a homey buffet bash that will firmly consolidate your rep in your very own "smart set."

Colpix Records founder Stu Phillips famously produced Shelley Fabares' iconic smash hit "Johnny angel" (actually a cover of earlier, 1960, versions by Laurie Loman and Georgia Lee) which definitively sets the optimistic Camelot timeframe and mindset alongside "Can't get used to losing you," "Blue velvet" and Bill Pursell's cozy "Our winter love," beautifully produced in Nashville with Bill Justis and Grady Martin. Sony/Nick at Nite have also thoughtfully included, because they care deeply about the wellbeing of Middle America, retro recipes (ignore the tinned-soup saucing technique) and hostessing tips from stellar Donna Reed herself, as relevant today as they were decades ago in Camelot or "Hilldale.

These are songs I grew up with. For all you dads out there with daughters, you need to listen to Mike Douglas' "The Men In My Little Girls' Life". It's great!
