Biography

Very few rappers embody the true essence of hardcore hip-hop the way Sheek Louch does so effortlessly. “I’m in the best shape of my life,” he says confidently. “Stronger, faster, like, ‘Bionic Man’!” Having earned his stripes as 1/3 of the LOX, as well as a proven solo artist, the Yonkers-native is respected as one of the best to ever do it when it ... Editorial Reviews

2010 release, the fifth solo album from New York rapper Sheek Louch best known for his roles as D-Block entrepreneur and founding member of Hip Hop super trio The L.O.X.. Donnie G: Don Gorilla is the follow-up to independently released Life on D-Block. Sheek Louch is always the eye of the storm - just like Jadakiss and Styles P, his long time partners in The L.O.X. and D-Block. The road to Def Jam began for all three as kids growing up rhyming in Yonkers, New York. Fellow Yonkers hip-hop first lady Mary J. Blige hooked them up with Bad Boy in 1996, where they became known as The L.O.X. (Living Off Xperience). Sheek's solo career began with Walk Witt Me (2003), and then went the indie route with After Taxes (2005), Silverback Gorilla (2008), and last year's Life on D-Block.

This album seemed rushed and aimed for commercial appeal, a perfect example would be "Picture Phone Foreplay" and "Club Jam Packed". It really is a average album, Louch shines on tracks like "Rhyme Animal", "Make Some noise", "Nite Falls", "Dinner Guest", "Blood & Tears" and "Clip up reloaded"."Get It Poppin" and "Ready4war" are good songs with lazy hooks. "Ol Skool" is aimed at the south and it would of been better suited for Bun B instead of Sheek. Hopefully next time sheek puts more effect into his album instead of aiming for radio. If your a big fan of D Block/Lox then you know Sheek has what it takes to put a good album, I'm pretty sure Def Jam had him make certain types of songs on here.

Rhyme Animal 5/5
Get It Poppin 4/5
Club Jam Packed 3/5
Out Of The Ghetto 3/5
Make Some Noise 5/5
Blood And Tears 4/5
Nite Falls 5/5
Party After 2 4/5
Ol Skool 3/5
Picture Phone Foreplay 3/5
Dinner Guest 5/5
Ready4war 4/5
Clip Up Reloaded 5/5

Its a pretty solid album. If I had to rate it I would give it a 3.5 out of 5. Its not as good as other albums I bought this year like Ghostface's Apollo Kids, Nas and Damian Marley's Distant Relatives or Black Milk's Album of The Year but its still pretty solid. I was hoping for something more like After Taxes but still not mad at the purchase since I'm a LOX and D-Block Supporter.

This one was done well.....Sheek always had a decent flow, and i like the way his sound was shifting between the last couple of albums, the production was bangin....why the 3 stars you ask? Wack a$$ R+B hooks.....nothing i hate more than a r+B hook on a rap song. It just takes away from the rough gritty street feel of the music. It makes it sound very mainstream and watered down, it feels like the song is targeted at a wider audience, when its not. I mean this album in its entirety maybe except for 1 or 2 tracks was made for radio play. garbage, sorry to all my sheek fans out there, but cmon, this dudes rhymes and his beats are always top quality, but why the garbage hooks? why
?

I'm a big fan of the Lox so my review is somewhat bias. Sheek by most is considered to be the weakest rapper in the group LOx. I however think that they are all solid Jadakiss standing out the most ovcourse. That being said this is Sheeks Def Jam debut album and it had little to NO promotion the only way I knew it was out is b/c I was in Best Buy picking up some other albums. The CD is great he has crazy lyrics and the beats are hott. It has a little more R&B than I care for from Sheek albums but it works out pretty good. Solid effort!
