Editorial Reviews

Before the success of his group Here We Go Magic, Luke Temple worked full-time as a plasterer. At nights after work, he spent his hours crafting what would become Here We Go Magic's self-titled debut. During the days he wrote a completely different set of songs in his head. The resulting record, Don't Act Like You Don't Care, shines with clarity and daylight, in contrast to Here We Go Magic's hazy aquatic debut.

I read the review published here by Amazon and was surprised at how poor it is. It tells nothing of the actual album and provides mis-information on the artist. Luke Temple is a working American folk singer-songwriter and has been for some time. He is an alumnus of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. While living in New York, making a living by painting murals in wealthy New Yorkers' apartments, he released a four song self-titled EP, recorded entirely on a four-track recorder. With this, he was signed to Mill Pond Records.

His first CD, Hold A Match to a Gasoline World, released late in 2005, took "Make Right With You" and "In the End" from his EP, and expanded it to an 11-song album. Both the debut EP and LP are available right here at Amazon. His second album, Snowbeast was also released by Mill Pond and his song "Make Right With You" was featured in an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Temple recorded a vinyl only EP called BRAIN which was recorded in the same apartment studio as Snowbeast. He gained attention from various media outlets when he and his new band, Here We Go Magic, released a self-titled album' on Western Vinyl in February 2009. Temple also had a standout video for his song "More Than Muscle" which features the artist expanding his multi-intrumentation to include avant-garde dance choreography.

Please do your homework before you write artist bios.

Don't Act Like You Don't Care is a focused return to the straightforward beauty and majesty of his early work. The album was recorded to a 4-track in two four hour sessions rumored to have happened simultaneously with Here We Go Magic. The result is a warm, intimate and playful collection of songs that prove instantly rewarding.

I feel so lucky to have happened upon this album. His voice has endlessly subtleties. The upbeat songs are infectious like the smile of someone you love. The ballads will put you in the deepest of holes. Some of the songs are playful while others are grave. And all are catchy without being predictable. This is ART.

I heard a song from this album in may of 2012 called "in the open" on indieshuffle.com. I put it on a 4 song sampler I made with a b-side of radiohead's King of Limbs, and 2 tracks from Edward Sharpe's newest record. Over the course of the summer I found I was listening to Luke Temple's song more than the others. I decided I would by this album on vinyl because thats my preference for listening to music. I was amazingly surprised at how great this album is. It has tons of heart and some great catchy songs. I recommend buying this album, I have zero regrets, and I bought it based on one song.
