5.0 out of 5 stars Still a great band!
This album has a lot of songs that have become classic. DLTBGYD, Im running right through the world, underground town, devil and a .45, everything you said has been a lie, spooky graveyard, and weekend in L.A. are my personal favorites and thats almost half the album. There are a couple instrumental songs on here such as spooky graveyard and big red. After all these years...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Decent Ska Disc...
The Toasters seem to stumble on this release. Although they churn out a few catchy beats, the result is an album full of too much filler. Quite a shame.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let the Bastards Knock This Album!, July 6, 1998

The Toasters have done it again! With their new album, they prove why they are the reigning kings of the New York ska scene. Great musicianship, a tight rhythm section, and immaculate songwriting. Unfortunately, this album is not quite the caliber of their other recent releases, mainly due to the lack of longtime vocalist Coolie Ranx, now vocalist for The Pilfers. Ranx's soulful Jamaican vocal style complemented lead vocalist Rob "Bucket" Hingley's to define the Toasters' sound. Their new vocalist, Jack Ruby, just isn't the master that Coolie was. However, this IS a great album, and much much better than anything labeled "ska" by the media.

4.0 out of 5 stars Toasted just right, June 19, 1998

What a surprise this CD is! Despite the cover art (which would have put me off if I hadn't sampled the CD first), this is an incredibly sophisticated, creative and FUN band. Great melding of reggae, ska and Latin music. And these guys have a sense of humor that's missing from many bands palying these genres. Each of the first eight tracks could be a hit single ... if mainstream radio stations played anything but drivel these days.

I picked this album up in early '98 towards the end of the third wave of ska run. This album along with Hard Band For Dead symbolize all that waa great about ska in the late 90's. Great tunes. I recommend that you pick up this CD and take a close listen to "Today's a good day". The best song on the album.

People who dont like ska have no buisness writing coments about a great ska band. This CD is the best Ska cd around today and will be a hit for awhile. People who dont like ska have no life. I am in a ska band myself. I bet you half the people who wrote reveiws dont even know the Toasters invented Third Wave SKA. They own the most succesful Ska label around called Moon Ska NYC. I recently saw the Toasters and they were amazing. The openers was a local band called Mexican Cession check them out.

OK, linked here from broadcast.com, listening to DLTBGYD right now (at work), I've had this album since it was released and just wanted to drop a few words here saying that all toasters music is great. If you don't have this album, get it, kid! I also recommend the earlier pietasters stuff, plus anything by the bosstones. E-Me for more........
