Book Description

3 and up
Posy the piglet wants to know everything! "Who wakes you up every morning?" she asks the rooster. "Does it hurt to lay eggs?" she asks the hen. She really gets in trouble when she asks "What does this button do?" and she blows the horn on the farmer’s tractor. The farmer comes running, yelling, "Don’t be so nosy, Posy!" But Posy can’t stop being nosy. One day when she hears a strange sound coming from the field so she decides to see what’s going on. She finds Callie the cow with her head caught in the fence. It’s a good thing Posy was so nosy this time or Callie might have been stuck for good!

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1-Posy, a piglet, is curious. She flits from animal to animal in the barnyard, asking them questions and getting on their nerves. Poking her nose into a hollow tree stirs up a swarm of angry bees and pushing the red horn on the tractor upsets the farmer. She doesn't mean to annoy-she just has an insatiable need to know about everything around her. Out in the field one day, she hears a sound that requires investigation. Upon discovering Callie Cow with her head stuck in a fence, Posy remembers what she has learned about the tractor's horn and presses it to summon help for her friend. Two sentences end with a question mark when it's unwarranted: "I wonder what that is?" and "I wonder what this does?" Large, brightly colored cartoons depict the cuddly pig and her cohorts in an idyllic English countryside. Children who share Posy's inquisitive nature will empathize with her quest to find out about her world.-Maryann H. Owen, Racine Public Library, WI

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite baby book, December 5, 2007

This review is from: Don't Be So Nosy, Posy! (Board book)
This is my favorite board book to read to my 9-month-old. Unlike with others, I never get sick of reading this one-- it's fun to read and not too repetitive or cloying. Amusing sounds and dialogue to act out. And the pictures are very cute and colorful. My book is shaped different from the one shown in the picture, though-- it's shaped like Posy's head and the cover has no mention of the author or illustrator (for shame! I had to turn to the back cover to read the copyright note to figure out who wrote and illustrated it).

It also happens to be the one book I can read through without my daughter getting distracted and trying to eat the pages. ;) And every time we get to the "Oomph!," she cracks up.
