More About the Author

I grew up in Meadow Lake, SK and spent my life in school until I moved to Quebec City in 1997. I'm actually using all of my education - I have 3 part-time jobs! I am a school librarian, I teach English as a second language, and I do translation from time to time.

I've always enjoyed telling stories, and when a friend/assistant teacher encouraged me to expand a short story that I'd written for his class, I knew I had to write an actual novel.

Writing "Don't come here, Julie!" was really a labour of love. I wanted to create a girl character that wasn't a wimp, and tell a story with lots of action that will appeal to both boys and girls. Let me know if I succeeded.

I've already had a lot of requests for a sequel, so check my blog from time to time to see how things are progressing, and be the first to read it.

This review is from: Don't Come Here, Julie (Paperback)
Pre-teens and teens alike will enjoy this well crafted tale of Sy-Fy intrigue. It exemplifies the love and bond between parent and child and offers a realistic look at the consequences of disobedience. Great teaching tool for lessons of life. The story is easy to follow and highly entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed it. P. Joy Webster has done a wonderful job of putting this story together. It is a clean, touching and oh-so-sweet fun story. A MUST READ for the entire family! Well done, P.Joy Webster and CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WIN! It was well deserved.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Intriguing Tale Of Action and Adventure, August 28, 2010
By
This review is from: Don't Come Here, Julie (Paperback)
After a long, trying year at boarding school, young Julie can't wait to get away and visit her mom, whom she misses dearly; unfortunately, her mom has recently been named as Earth's Ambassador to the planet of Norandia, and she informs Julie that it isn't the best time for a visit. Ignoring her mom's warnings to stay away, Julie embarks on a journey to Norandia anyway - but she soon realizes that her impetuousness may have gotten her in way over her head...

Brief yet compelling, Don't Come Here, Julie! is an enjoyable read. Skillfully combining various elements of fantasy and science fiction, author P. Joy Webster has penned an intriguing tale of action and adventure sure to hold the interest of readers young and old alike. In Julie, Webster has crafted a true-life protagonist to which the young adult crowd will surely relate - particularly as a presumptuous, self-assured know-it-all - and the general storyline of her tale expounds on such invaluable life lessons as obedience, respect, and learning to embrace rules that, while far from pleasant, are nonetheless designed to protect us - particularly from ourselves.

Deftly edifying, Don't Come Here, Julie! is a poignant cautionary tale with strong adolescent appeal. An entertaining read.
