2.0 out of 5 stars Danza Cookbook
I think this book was more of an autobiography than a cookbook, which I enjoyed anyway. I didn't find the recipes anything out of the ordinary or varied much.

5.0 out of 5 stars OH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH, May 15, 2008
This review is from: Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto: Tony Danza's Father-Son Cookbook (Hardcover)
I am thrilled with this book. I saw some of the food on The View and I have a very good Italian friend that I cook for so I thought I'd try a few things for him. He just looked at me and said "Like my Momma's" that's all, that was enough. Thank you for sharing Tony

4.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic and Nice, Traditional Italian Recipes, May 28, 2008
This review is from: Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto: Tony Danza's Father-Son Cookbook (Hardcover)
This is not your typical cookbook. Tony Danza and his son, Marc, put together a collection of recipes that they grew up with from their Sicilian Italian family. Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto is more than a cookbook, however; it is a collection of stories about their family and includes black and white photographs.

The upshot is a homey and sweet book that includes delicious and traditional Italian recipes.

Danza writes how the food he grew up with was considered peasant food--vegetables, carbs and small amounts of meat and how healthy that diet really is. He notes how much of that has changed...and so have the expanding waistlines in his family. Lesson--save the heavier meaty dishes for special occasions!

By the author of the award winning book, Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify and Energize Your Life, Your Home and Your Planet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Father's Day Gift!!!, May 21, 2008
This review is from: Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto: Tony Danza's Father-Son Cookbook (Hardcover)
I'm a huge Tony Danza fan and watched his talk show faithfully for the two years that it was on. I've been waiting for this book and had pre-ordered it. I was so pleased to receive it pre-pub. I had been exposed to many of these recipes thru Tony's show where he had a cooking segment and can't wait to explore them with my family. The concept of interspersing the recipes with a memoir of the Danza family is a great idea. I love the old family pictures as well as the new ones with little Nicky. I'll cherish this book and actually hope to get an autographed copy soon. Will make the perfect gift for the fathers who like to cook!!!

This is the only Italian Cookbook that you will need.

Easy to prepare recipes, however this is what we ate in the old days.
Easy to make "The Perfect Meatball" Gravey ( sauce ) in half the time.

The book is your basic Italian cookbook. If you are Italian or want to be Italian, this book is for you. If you are from Brooklyn or Queens, you will enjoy the very short stories included.

4.0 out of 5 stars Real Italian Family Recipes - Close to Home, June 14, 2008
This review is from: Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto: Tony Danza's Father-Son Cookbook (Hardcover)
Tony Danza's recipes and stories about growing up in an Italian Family are very close to home for me. I could actually envision his family get togethers with all the food on the table. Good Italian home cooking with a few tips and changes that make all Italian family recipes special. I especially love the one about using the meatballs for the lasagna. Great little cookbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book makes you want to make the memories his family has, August 28, 2008
This review is from: Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto: Tony Danza's Father-Son Cookbook (Hardcover)
I usually adjust recipes, but no need to with this book. They taste
authentic italian, they're easy to make, and pretty upon presentation.
The roasted vegetable pasta dish I made last night was heavenly, six bucks to make, and it was an easy clean up too! I like the stories, even though I have a small family, they motivate me to have everyone sit at the table like a big italian family! This book is worth twice the price.

I read this book in 2 days and loved it! The recipes are great - simple but mouthwatering, and the writing style is from-the-heart. The way that Tony and Marc cook together reminds me of my relationship with my mom, and how lucky I am to still have her. Tony and Marc seem like real, down to earth people who know what's really important in life and make a great team in the kitchen as well. This book is a winner ... enjoy it with someone you love.
