I remember reading an interview with the Simple Minds lead singer at the time of this song and he was bewailing and bemoaning that this song was a hit. He felt that it was demeaning to a great artist like himself to have a hit single. He was never demeaned again to my knowledge so I hope that he's happy. Maybe having Chrissie Hynde was a consolation of sorts.
