Editorial Reviews

Eddie Cochran had it all. A consummate musician both on stage and in the studio, he also had the looks and composure of a Hollywood star and though barely out of his teens, his talent ensured he was also in demand as a session-player. Cochran's distinctive guitar playing and moody vocals made a remarkable impact in an all-too brief career during which time he co-wrote and recorded some of Rock'n'Roll's greatest anthems: 'Summertime Blues', 'C'mon Everybody' and 'Somethin' Else'. Chart statistics belie Cochran's true legacy and although he only managed one US Top 10 hit (he fared considerably better in the UK racking up a dozen entries, including a No. 6 and a posthumous No.1), in an era of "Clyde Ankle" manufactured teen idols, Cochran controlled his music in a way few young artists could, setting him apart as true Rock'n'Roll originator. His untimely death from injuries sustained in a car crash at the end of his hugely successfully UK tour with Gene Vincent in April 1960, only served to enhance the legend that surrounded him. He was just twenty-one. Why Buy This Record? › Carefully compiled commemorative 29-track career overview includes home & studio demo's, early releases for the Ekko & Crest labels, plus live & broadcast recordings and a hidden bonus track. › Digipack format features stunning sleeve art throughout and a Limited Edition bubblegum card. › Full colour 8-page booklet includes informative liner notes by noted Rock'n'Roll authority & chart-topping producer, Stuart Colman plus rare photographs & memorabilia. › Released to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Cochran's birth in October, the bi-annual Eddie Cochran weekender in Chippenham, Wiltshire (3rd & 4th Oct) and documentary features on BBC local & national radio. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
