Born in Russia in 1878, P. D. Ouspensky was one of the major esoteric thinkers of the twentieth century. Ouspensky had already travelled widely searching for esoteric knowledge, and was an expert on occult literature and the fourth dimension when he met G. I. Gurdjieff in 1915.
