Tourist guide for northern Ethiopia, August 28, 2009
This review is from: Don't Forget Your Passport: Ethiopia, Africa (DVD)
I have 2 sons adopted from Ethiopia and have traveled there twice (and am going again at the end of the year) so i am always on the lookout for DVD's on Ethiopia. This series is not available in Australia so I didn't know the format of the show. The footage was great and most of the information was pretty accurate but I found the presenter to be a little insensitive and not respectful of the culture. For example, on one island in Lake Tana she discovered that women were not supposed to go onto the island but she proceeded anyway, wearing a brief, shoestring singlet top, to visit the male only monestery making a few condescending remarks on the way.
I may just be a little sensitive but was disappointed with her general approach but it is worthwhile watching for the footage of the stunning countryside of the northern Ethiopian highlands.
