3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty funny Sammo Hung movie, August 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Give a Damn (English subtitles) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie was a pretty funny one, especially in the beginning when Sammo poses as a cop that's trying to bust a drug dealer. Yuen Biao plays a Customs officer also trying to bust a drug dealer, and they mistake eachother for drug dealers! Then they start pointing guns at eachother with a huge group of cops and a huge group of customs officers doing the same on the bus. The funny parts mainly come when the African-American teenager (later on in the movie) speaks in broken Cantonese! Also the fight scenes are pretty good, but not what I would hold up to the standards for a Hong Kong action movie. There was a pretty big one between the beginning and middle of the movie and it was staggering because it involved vans, cars, and guns on top of the fist fights all happening at once. The coolest fight scene though, has gotta be near the end of the movie, when Yuen Biao (disguised as an African-American guy named Sean) fights two really muscular Caucasians. He says in an earlier scene that he doesn't know kung-fu, but does know street fighting, and yet he's got some cool moves. He gets beaten up though, mainly because he's outnumbered and can't seem to hurt the really really muscular guy with a roundhouse kick. So, he retreats and uses his gymnastic skills to get away and on top of these connected bars which the muscleman breaks and breaks until hurting his hand on a hardened one. Yuen jumps into a basket and falls (with his groin) onto a bamboo stick then gets beaten up even more! To which two guys come in with crutches to help him out and they win, but just barely. Anyway, I think this movie's good for a rental, but not nessarily to own unless you like it.
