From School Library Journal
Grade 5-8?In the third book in this series, Rosie Saunders and her best friend, Kayo Benton, once again run into trouble when they decide to help an elderly neighbor find a home for her cat. While attempting to help Mrs. Tallie, the girls uncover an attempted murder, a deadly case of mistaken identity, and a mystery that they eventually solve with the help of the police. Rosie and Kayo are smart, positive characters who care about others and who learn from their mistakes. Youngsters will enjoy reading about kids who live ordinary lives but who make an effort to help others in their community through the activities of their "Care Club." The lessons are subtly presented; the girls put their trust in someone they know little about, only to realize that first impressions can be dangerously wrong. Well-written and with a well-formed plot, the story moves along quickly and will hold readers' interest.?Carrie A. Guarria, Lindenhurst Memorial Library, NY

Gr. 3^-6. Finding a home for an elderly neighbor's cat seems like a perfect project for Care Club members Rosie Saunders and Kayo Benton, but when Mrs. Tallie's health suddenly deteriorates, the girls become suspicious. A poisonous plant and a threatening phone call lead the young sleuths to suspect Mrs. Tallie's gardener, a mistake that almost costs the girls their lives. Twists and turns abound in the exciting, masterfully written story, which continues to deliver surprising plot twists well after the culprit's identity is revealed. The third episode in the Frightmares series, this will make a great read-aloud and will encourage youngsters to sharpen their problem-solving skills by using clues and process of elimination.
