5.0 out of 5 stars HOT, HOT, HOT
The book was so hot!! The author captures the reader's attention at Chapter 1 with what we all love- SEX. Then the author lures you into a world of drama, romance, and suspense and leaves you desiring more and more. The character's were so real that I began having dreams about them. This was my first book reading from the author and it won't be the last, it was a real...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Pretty Good Book, BUT..........
This book was so inconsistent! It drove me crazy! And the names in this book...come on! Sap? Trinket? Money Loane? Chocolate Starr? Seal? M&M? No name in this book was normal. It was like reading a soap opera. The book is rather long (400+ pages) which is OK because the story itself was interesting. Overall, the writing is good. But it just seemed to me like...

4.0 out of 5 stars Playtime is Over (4.5 stars), December 3, 2005
This review is from: Don't Hate the Player (Paperback)
To be totally honest the cover almost kept me away from this book and once I purchased it I thought it did start off kind of slow. But then new author Brandie picked up the ball that I thought she was about to fumble and marched this book down field and right into scoring position.

Four friends (Chocolate, Money, Taeko & Luvly) graduate High School and all lead successful lives. Two professional athletes, one male model and a business owner. But the success doesn't come without the drama and that's what kept me turning the pages of this book.

The Luvly, Money & Diamond love triangle will keep readers glued to the pages. Diamond was a true S.O.B that was so brutal that he deserves his own book just to see what made him do the foul things that he did (Hint-Hint@Brandie).

But the ending of the book is what will leave readers mouths hanging wide open. I know there must be a part II in the works because I refuse to believe the conclusion to this one. But all in all Brandie definitely scores with Don't Hate The Player...Hate The Game.

Keep up the good work Ms. Brandie and continue to give your reader something worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stop Hating-2.5, August 28, 2005
This review is from: Don't Hate the Player (Paperback)
I have been an avid reader for many years, of all kinds of books, and this has been one of my favorites. It kept me turning the page, and it was well put together. I never once questioned who was talking or doing an act. All the characters had meaning and purpose, maybe if you read this book and don't have a purpose in life then you would say it had no meaning. But overall the book told a story of love, drama and determination. It had family, fights, sex, ball players, strippers, death, all the things a good book are made of. I hope no one goes by these reviews, check it out yourself, because everyone has a flavor or taste that is different from the next. This book is a go getter. I'm looking forward to the next. Why Luvly???

5.0 out of 5 stars A Literary Drama, August 30, 2005
This review is from: Don't Hate the Player (Paperback)
This book is unbelieveable. It has gotta go to the big screen or at least TVOne as a black soap opera. Numerous story lines are cleverly intertwined. I agree, it is definitely a page-turner of what MUST be a sequel that introduces four friends- all vibrant, beautiful, talented, and black- who find themselves swept up in the wrath of the "DIRTY DIRTY'S" high-speed, drama, and ,,,, This book is filled with sensuality, deception, friendship and love. You will abosultely have known or know someone in this book. Brandie, can't wait for the next book and the journey you will take us on. Good one!

This review is from: Don't Hate the Player (Paperback)
The book is Hotttttttt! It did start off alittle slow with character developement and then it took you on a nonstop ride of entertainment. I fell in love with the character Brandie. Is she real????? And I had much respect for Chocolate even though he might as well had got him some before he did, he was already doing everything. But overall great read. Ready for the sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED THE DRAMA.., July 18, 2006
This review is from: Don't Hate the Player (Paperback)
I loved this book! I could not put it down..it had me at page one..Some of the inconsistancies were annoying, but once I got past that, it was a great read and I didn't want it to end.

Money, Luvly, Taeko, and Chocolate sure had their share of drama and ups and downs, but most of all, this is a book about friendship. I love how they were there for each other no matter what happened in each of their lives.

Taeko was just trifling and annoying from day one, but I'm glad he finally got his stuff together..or did he? Tragic ending, but I can't wait for part II cause I know that "dog" is gonna his due...(everyone who read the book knows who I'm talking about..)

p.s. I liked Chocolate's character the most, but by the end, I think that he had lost his mind dealing with Brandy...Their relationship kinda reminds me of Jaylin and Scorpio in the novels by Brenda Hampton..(check them out!) Very interesting, passionate, and drama filled..

If you love drama, you'll love this book. It sort of puts me in the mind of a mix between Flyy Girl(Omar Tyree) and Drama Queen (La Jil Hunt) with male main characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars REad it, u'll never want it 2 end, March 20, 2006
This review is from: Don't Hate the Player (Paperback)

Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game is a book based on drama, sex, lies, and betrayal. Brandie talks about the lives of Luvly, Taeko, Money, and Chocolate ; four friends that have been through so much together and learn to take each other to a higher level. Money and Luvly engage in a dangerous love affair. They love each other so much but there is two things stopping their fate : Money's obsessed girlfriend Salone, and Diamond, Luvly's drug dealing, abusive boyfriend. Although this can lead up to a deadly equation, there is also a pretty little girl named Sapphire who is also caught in the mix.

Chocolate is a male super model that could definitely be every woman's dream. He's smart, sexy, and looking for a woman to satisfy his sexual desires. But when he finds the woman of his dreams, he goes all out for her and becomes a little too attached. He starts to sacrifice his morals, respect, and ultimately himself. He soon comes to learn that once he loses respect for himself, he will soon lose so much more.

Taeko is the man that can't figure out what he wants in life. He's been married to Joi, his highschool sweetheart, for a long time. But as soon as he becomes a basketball player, he starts to believe that he needs space. The money and fame get to him a bit too much and before you know it, he has another baby momma to deal with. How much will he sacrifice before he loses it all?

My favorite quote is," Mrs. Star is your mother?" Brandie, Chocolate's girlfriend says. I love it when she says that because this is when both Chocolate and Brandy find otu that they've finally found each other. I find that funny because they've been looking for each other for a very long time, just didn't know it.

This book is very good. I definitely recommend that all mature high school students read this. This book constantly builds your suspense and always makes you question, What's gonna happen next?" By the time you get to the end of the book, you'll be very surprised, sad, and angry. Well at least I was!
