Don't Hurry For Heaven is a fresh, interesting and at times whimsical release from 28-year old Devon Sproule. Her sound is quirky - at times, jazz-infused contemporary folk; other times, the pedal steel and soothing rhythm pull it toward a country-western feel. Her voice is both charming and playful, falling somewhere between Victoria Williams and Tori Amos. The production is simple, sparse and elegant, showcasing Sproule's engaging voice, style and delivery. Get the feeling I like this CD? I can't get enough of it.

I love Devon Sproule because she is one of my favorite lyricists and also a real pleasure to see live, so I got this as an import last summer. Don't Hurry for Heaven lived up to expectation and was one of my favorite CD purchases of this past year. Produced by her talented hubby Paul Curreri DHFH is as thoughtful, original, and nuanced as her previous releases but also makes a slight departure in style towards what I thought was a more 'authentic' (as opposed to Pop) Country sound. Whatever it is I loved it, and can't wait for whatever is next!

This CD has not left my truck since I got it. I play each morning on my wat to work. Each of her last two CDs had there own uique sound and style, this one follows that pattern too. Devon has a wonderful way of painting a complete image in your mind with just one line of lyrics, the song "Aint that the way" is a perfect example of that lyrical imagery. As with the last two albums this one has grown musically from the last, with a blend of musical styles and instuments that is very comfortable to listen to, yet unique from its predicesser. The only thing better than listening to the CD is to see her play it live! BUY IT! You wont regret it.
