This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Marliss Melton has to be one of my favorite new authors. She has only written six books but the last four about Seal Team 12 are great. She seems to have picked up where Suzanne Brockmann left us. I really like the stories about Seals, not only are they good guys but they are really putting their lives on the line for our Country. Her Seals are real men, men who can face the toughest of battle and the tenderest of emotions.
Soloman McGuire is a senior chief, he has faced the loss of his family and child when his wife ran off while he was on assignment. She wanted more than the life he could give her and she took his son with her. She has been gone five yrs and he has no idea where she is. Jordan Bliss is in Venezuela attempting to adopt a young child she has grown to love, when there is a major coup. Jordan has not had an easy life, she has faced a cheating husband and the loss of a baby. She is determined to save one little boy. Jordan's sister was a physical therapy nurse, she was there to pull Rafael Valentino back from death two yrs ago and now she calls him for help to save her sister. Rafe is with the FBI and shortly Seal Team 12 arrives to get Jordan, Soloman must pull Miguel from her arms and force her on the plane. He finds it hard to do but he is following orders. Jordan fights and screams her way back home but she is determined to go back and get her child. Soloman can't forget the woman who would give anything even her life for her child. The story is complex but brings the two people back togather, and Soloman slowly finds himself falling for Jordan, but even if she does fall for Soloman she will find a way to go back for Miguel. I loved this book and look forward to many more from this wonderful author. Do not miss it, highly recommended.

I really like Marliss Melton's SEALs but...,

This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm not adding a book synopsis - that has been done well in the first review. This deals strictly with my reading of the book.
There are too many characters packed into too small of a space. The romance between the main characters really didn't feel fully developed, because so much time was spent bouncing around to assorted characters. The addition of Jordan's sister, her pregnancy and her romance felt unnecessary and rushed. Jordan was very wishy-washy - or maybe just not developed enough. Other than knowing that Solomon liked to do paperwork, I really didn't find anything really personal out about him in his daily life. Most of the development of his relationship with his son doesn't seem to be on the pages, it takes place between chapters. I felt I knew Ellie better than I did Jordan or Solomon. Joe Montgomery was so well developed in Next To Die, I felt connected to him. Solomon didn't fair as well and I missed that connection. With all of this said, it won't stop me from buying the next book, but I can hope for more character development. Just MHO.

This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I won't go into the summary since the synopsis and other review already covered that well.
The book is a great read and fast paced, which is important to me. There are the 2 main characters but also 2 other romance brewing. The author does a great job juggling the side characters, main characters, and children. I also like the way she reveals the characters' past slowly, the same way you get to really know someone. We saw more of Lucy, who 'll probably be the heroine in the next book. I look forward to that a lot. Lucy is compared to Lara Croft, not a wimpy heroine. The main reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because Jordan's naivite is irritating. So many strings were pulled to rescue her out of Venezuela the first time, then she went back in the middle of a coup a second time, even after Solomon already told her that he contacted someone there who will try to get her soon-to-be-adopted son out. Has it ever occur to her that she would hinder his rescue instead of helping, or that she would be risking other people's lives? Also, I don't understand why Solomon didn't allow Jordan to take Miguel the first time since she told him that she's already adopted him. Just didn't make sense especially after they already trekked through a forest.

This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Navy SEAL Solomon McGuire knows about the loss of a child. When he returned from a mission five years ago, he came home to an empty house as his wife had disappeared with their infant son without a trace. Feeling guilty for literally pulling Jordan Bliss' nearly adopted son from her arms while rescuing her in a Venezuelan coup, it is she who he turns to when he is reunited with his son who is in need of tutoring. Jordan tentatively takes him up on his offer, hoping to raise money for her next trip to war-torn Venezuela to reunite with Miguel. What she doesn't count on is falling for the man she blames for losing her son. Her widowed pregnant sister also finds a second chance at love with FBI agent Rafe Valentino, who is still reeling from the violent loss of his own family.
Marliss Melton is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors - her SEAL Team 12 series is always compelling. While I liked this story, there were just way too many characters and romances to keep track of. Most of the characters from her other novels appear in this story, adding to the character congestion. While Solomon is a compelling and sexy hero, Jordan can grate o9n reader's nerves - she experiences some true TSTL moments. Despite the flaws, Melton's writing and plotting are on target and she excels in writing believable dialogue. Not her strongest novel by any means, but still a compelling story, which paves the way for the next installment that will undoubtedly feature Rafe's partner Lucy.

Jet-speed pace,
This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I picked this book up strictly because I did not have anything else to read. I wanted to love this book, but I agree w/ a previous reviewer who said everthing felt rushed. Even Harlequins have to have a little more character development. The secondary romance went lightspeed for a widow of less than a year, well 9 months. Everybody resolves the emotional conflict portions in one page or less. Too crowded w/ characters, too rushed w/ relationship (main character went from hating hero to kissing him in a few pages, too little personality.

Don't Give Up,

This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Don't give up on this series. This is a good story. I liked the conflict and suspense, although I had some problems with a few of the characters. Still, it's worth a read. Jordan Bliss is a respectable character, desperate to adopt a young Venezuelan boy. She's likable enough, but I questioned some of her decisions, and reactions. Very emotional and not very smart. Although her devotion to young Miguel is touching. I started out hating Navy SEAL Chief Solomon McGuire. I didn't like him in NEXT TO DIE, and really didn't like him in the beginning of this tale. He's an ass who has no respect for women. But, he does have a heart and I ended up not hating him. I never liked him--I just didn't hate him. He is reunited with the son he lost five years ago. This happens right after he rescues Jordan Bliss from war torn Venezuela, and rips Miguel out of her arms. Rafael Valentino, who has been in previous books in the series, is an okay character. Jordan's sister, Jillian, who is Rafe's love interest is interesting but I have problems with their relationship because she's 7 months pregnant with her murdered husband's child when she seduces Rafe. Sean Harlan is a character I'm looking forward to knowing better. Ellie Stuart is also a promising character--she is the person who returned Solomon's son to him and he is so appreciative he's desperate to help her get out of a terrible situation. I look forward to reading TOO FAR GONE, the next book in this solid series. If you haven't read Ms. Melton's Navy SEAL series, you're missing out on some good entertainment. Don't Let Go-A Joyfully Recommended Title!!!,
This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jordan Bliss has traveled to Venezuela in order to adopt a child. When she sees four-year-old Miguel, he quickly grabs her heart. But when chaos erupts from a government coup, she finds herself being extracted by Navy Seals against her will, leaving Miguel behind as he is not a US citizen. Navy Seal Solomon McGuire can't get the picture of Jordan out of his mind after her took Miguel from her arms and forced her on the helicopter. Solomon's own son was stolen from him by his ex-wife so he knows the pain it brings. That's why he finds himself determined to help her get her son back. Both Jordan and Solomon have had their hearts trampled by their ex-spouses but they find themselves unable to stop from falling in love. But when Jordan's quest to retrieve Miguel from Venezuela puts Jordan into danger, can Solomon get to her in time to save the woman who has given him a second chance at love?
Marliss Melton has done it again! Don't Let Go is an action-packed romance that keeps the reader immersed in Solomon and Jordan, unwilling to put the book down. Add to this a tremendous secondary story involving Jordan's sister and the hint of the another story to come. Without a doubt Marliss Melton's Navy Seals are not to be missed! Don't Let Go,
This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
When Navy SEAL Solomon McGuire had orders to go into war-torn Venezuela and bring back American citizen Jordan Bliss, he didn't question them. He obeyed them. To the letter. What his orders didn't include was the small orphan boy in her arms that she claims she adopted. The look on her face when he pulled the boy from her arms, both of them kicking and screaming, was just about his undoing. After all, it wasn't so long ago that he'd returned from a mission to find his own wife and child had vanished, and all traces of their belongings gone.Since returning to the U.S., Jordan has been a wreck without her son, Miguel. A fierce resolution claims the young teacher who is determined to go back to Venezuela, find her son, and bring him home. After a tenuous truce between Jordan and Solomon, he vows to help her in any way he can to find the young boy. Amidst the truce, sparks fly. But while they may have a newfound love, nothing will stop the will of a mother who places herself in danger in order to get her son. The question is: will Solomon be able to save Jordan, and her son, before it's too late? I loved this book. Let me write that again: I loved this book! With non-stop action and strong characters that grip your heartstrings and your libido, I read Don't Let Go in one sitting, riveted until the very end. I have to admit that while I'd heard of Marliss Melton before, I hadn't read any of her work. Not only is that rectified now, but I just purchased the previous four books in her Navy SEALs series. If you want a wild ride with great suspense and tension-filled romance, Don't Let Go is your book. I highly recommend it! Courtesy of Fallen Angel Reviews (fallenangelreviews.com)

Ok for romantic suspense, but it didn't stand out from the pack. I wanted to be a little more surprised or delighted.,

STORY BRIEF:
Jordan is doing volunteer work in Venezuela and falls in love with a four-year-old orphan boy Miguel. She starts adoption procedures. Before the adoption is complete, there is a rebellion. Americans are no longer safe in Venezuela. A group of NAVY seals headed by Solomon rescue Jordan and others. She won't leave without Miguel, but Solomon forces her to. While in the U.S. she receives notice that Miguel's adoption papers are ready. Jordan plans to return to Venezuela alone to get him. Solomon's wife took off with his one-year old son Silas 5 years earlier. He hasn't been able to find Silas. Recently his wife's sister contacts him and says his wife is dead and the sister has Silas. Solomon is ecstatic to finally get his son back. When he discovers Silas can't read, he hires Jordan to teach Silas before school starts. Jordan and Solomon start to fall for each other. She does not tell him she is planning to return to Venezuela. REVIEWER'S OPINION: This was pretty good, but it felt like other romantic suspense novels. Nothing really surprised or delighted me. It was ok, but I'm probably not going to try the next book in the series. I was expecting more interesting things to develop while in Venezuela. The return trip to Venezuela was shorter than I expected. DATA: Story length: 296 pages. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: 4. Total number of sex scene pages: 11. Setting: current day Venezuela, Virginia, and Mississippi. Copyright: 2008. Genre: romantic suspense.

This review is from: Don't Let Go (Navy SEALs, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoy all of her books and have read all of the previous books in this series. While this book was good and I enjoyed it, there were so many secondary stories going on that it distracted from the main characters in the book. I would have liked for the book to have spent more time on the two main individuals in the book and not as much time on the secondary stories. That being said I did enjoy the book and if you are a fan of hers and this series then you will want to read Don't Let go.
