Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Playful love scenes and a large dose of humor lift Enoch's second novel to star gorgeous 33-year-old Richard Addison, a British billionaire, and stunning 24-year-old Samantha Jellicoe, a former thief (after Flirting with Danger). While Rick tries to prove to Samantha that settling down with him won't destroy her sense of self, he works to keep her out of trouble with the police after Sam's first client in her new security business is murdered. Besides trying to solve the murder, Sam must deal with her internal conflicts about loving Rick and, in a lighter vein, her ex-crook business partner's grousing about going straight. Some readers may have a problem with the story's unreality, which is heightened by the immorality of most of the wealthy portrayed in the Palm Beach, Fla., setting. Contemporary romance-land offers up as many billionaires these days as the ridiculous number of dukes cluttering English historicals. Still, Enoch deserves credit for having a couple go through a second book with their sexual chemistry intact. (Jan.)

From Booklist

*Starred Review* Enoch introduced art thief Samantha Jellicoe and her British multibillionaire lover Rick Addison in Flirting with Danger (2005). Now the fearless, feisty, "semi-reformed" Samantha is back for a second caper, and so is long-suffering Rick. Having finally decided to leave her life of crime, Samantha goes into the security business. But being legitimate doesn't come easy. Samantha resents all of the unsolicited advice Rick offers, and Stoney, her partner, best friend, and fence, keeps trying to get her to return to the more lucrative life of crime. Plus, there's always the fear that a colleague from her former life, a police officer, or someone she's robbed, will show up at her office. Things aren't much better on the home front. Rick's ex-wife, Patricia, wants Rick back, even if she has to frame Samantha for a crime she didn't commit. As the cherry on the cake, Samantha's first customer turns up dead. With their undeniable chemistry, their witty repartee, and their adventures sleuthing in the glamorous world of Palm Beach glitterati, Samantha and Rick are reminiscent of The Thin Man 's Nick and Nora. 5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the next one, March 16, 2006

I waited for this book to be available via my local library, for what seemed like forever, and just finished reading it. I loved this book so much, that I just purchased a copy from Amazon so I can read my own personal copy again and again.

I feel that this book better than `Flirting with Danger' - which I happened to like very much as well. `Don't Look Down' is a continuation of the first story, but you fall in love with Rick and Sam characters that much more and watch their relationship grow and mature. By the looks of it, Sam's trust is building and I have no doubt that their romance is heading in the right direction. Can't wait to see what Suzanne Enoch will have them do next.

Usually, the second book falls flat, but not this one. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series AND because I've like the first two so much, I'll purchase it instead of waiting...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great love story, April 17, 2006

I love Sam and Rick together! They remind me a little of Eve and Roarke (J.D. Robb's romantic couple). Sam is a bit like the tough cop that Eve is except that she isn't all legal about stuff and her upbringing, though not great, is WAY better than Eve's. And Sam is more up on literature and booklearning-type stuff than Eve. Richard is a lot like Roarke in that he's rich and strong and very capable and very in love. Unlike Roarke, Rick never was poor or on the wrong side of the law.

I loved reading this book. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow start but gets much better., April 15, 2006

This book has more "sex" scenes than any Suzanne's historical romance books, and it's understandable why. However, all the way through half the book, I was still waiting for suspense to begin, and for action to start. The first book "Flirting With Danger" was more fast paced than this one. It's is still a great book, and the author does not disappoint with witty, funny dialogs, steamy bedroom (and not bedroom) sex scenes, suspence and action.

I was reluctant to even buy Suzanne's first contemporary title, but I'm so glad I gave her a chance. She is absolutely great at modern romance!

More About the Author

A lifelong lover of books, Suzanne Enoch has been writing them since she learned to read. She is the author of two well-received Avon Regencies, The Black Duke's Prize and Angel's Devil, and five Avon Romances: Lady Rogue, Stolen Kisses, By Love Undone, Taming Rafe and Reforming a Rake. Born and raised in Southern California, Suzanne lives a few scant miles from Disneyland with her collection of Star Wars action figures and a Cairn terrier named Katie (after the heroine of her first Regency). She's still looking for her own hero, and hopes he will be handsome, titled, and just a little wicked. Meanwhile, she's currently at work inventing him in her next historical romance.
