Book Description

April 1999
This book about travel writing will make it possible to bring home from your next trip the one souvenir money can’t buy. Why? Because no amount of money can replace a memory. Yet, left unrecorded, time can rob you. That’s why knowing the techniques of good travel writing so you can put these memories down in a journal is so important. Our best, most life-altering memories often are of the time we travel far, or near. We find new sights and sounds. New friends. A deeper appreciation of our own hometown. Wisdom. Protect these experiences. Save and cherish them. Record them in a journey journal. Bring them out to be relived. To share with children. Even grandchildren you may never meet. In this book, Susan Laubach, author, actress, investment guru, research Ph.D., gives step by step instructions explaining how. Make your journey journal one that’s passed down through the ages. Learn the art of travel writing from this book.

This review is from: Don't Lose Your Memory: Writing the Journey Journal (Paperback)
This book made me finally accept that I don't have to be Paul Theroux or Mark Twain to sit down and record my travel memories. Whether you travel seldom and therefore don't want to have the memory of your trip fade, or if you are lucky enough to travel a great deal and don't want a jumble of memories to confuse your story-telling (was that in Bangkok or Yangon?), this handy 'how-to' will guide you. This is one helpful and most entertaining book. I hope I run into Susan and Bob on one of their adventures.
