About 'Tumble Bee'

Tumble Bee, the first children’s record from the prolific Laura Veirs (whose last release, July Flame, was dubbed “a perfect Sunday afternoon record” by The Oxford American and “sweet and irresistible” by Rolling Stone) inspires listeners to lean in close and hit replay. The youthful innocence in Veirs’ voice lends itself well to the jaunty spirit of the album. The recording… Read more in Amazon's Laura Veirs Store

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best songs I've heard this year., August 15, 2007

This review is from: Don't Lose Yourself (Audio CD)
And I'm not even a major indie fan. I like the stuff most of the time, it's just not what I'm most likely to be found listening to at any given moment most of the time.

But this song...wow. I don't know what makes it so special, but it's really great and I like it a lot. Up there with the Arcade Fire's "Intervention", Marillion's "The Other Half", and The Besnard Lakes' "Because Tonight" for best new song release of 2007 so far behind most of Rush's SNAKES & ARROWS album tracks, I'd say.

And I have no idea what the song is about because the lyrics are more imagist poeticism than cohesive storytelling. Oddly enough, that isn't even a drawback. But maybe I've just been listening to too much Radiohead lately.
