This review is from: Don't Make Me Laugh (Quick Reads) (Paperback)
Patrick Augustus' Don't Make Me Laugh, is an interesting tale where we know what has happened (a man has slept with his twin brother's wife, both men having only discovered the other exists after their biological mother sold them when they were toddlers). What we don't know is why all this happened, so when Leo after narrating his disgust and brief synopsis or his life up to this point starts violently assaulting his twin Trevor for his actions. Trevor then starts to narrate to Leo his side of events. Then Jen, the wife tells us her meeting of the two and the affair from her perspective. After this has happened we then hear from the biological mother and we wrap it all up with a narration from a ghost, the victim of events from the biological mother and twins era. It's an interesting way to tell a story, we only ever see things from the point of view of each person telling the story, there's no vocabulary interaction with any of the other characters.

Don't Make Me Laugh is part of the Quick Reads series of books to increase literacy levels by encouraging those who don't like to read beyond magazines and comic books to try fiction through cheap priced short story length fiction and non fiction.
