Love this disc, every track is too trill. Great production & great slowed down flows from some of Houston's finest. I've been a huge fan of UGK for years, but it's only until recently that I decided to check out Lil keke. I've def. been missin out over the years. If you're feelin this, I would def. recommend picking up....
*Big Mike - Still Serious
*Mr. 3-2 - Wicked Buddah Baby
*Blac Monks - Secrets Of The Hidden Temple
*Everything from UGK
*Devin - The Dude
....lots of classics outta Texas

Lil Keke bursts in in 1997's Don't Mess Wit Texas with heat and fervor. Along with many guests like Al D, 3-2, and others from the Screwed Up Click, Keke kicks in some trill rhymes over slammin southern fried crunk-funk. He gets socially aware over a sweet laid back beat in "All In The Game." He gets his ride on in the bouncy "Bounce And Turn" over a nice southern fried funk beat. Keke and Big Pokey, along with some other homies get loc'd on "Serious Smoke" over a smooth melodic G-Funk style beat. Keke gets it crunk on "Call It What You Want" puttin' it down for the whole south, and does it again with 3-2 on "Something About The Southside." Keke also has somethin 4 the hustlas on "If You Wanna" where he shows that u can hustle legit by gettin into the rap industry, over a soulful G-Funk beat. I luv the original and screwed versions of "Still Pimpin' The Pen," perfect to lean to! Keke is a very good MC; he can get fun, but can also be serious and has some lyrical depth. Overall, the album slams from start to finish with those sick Southside flows and funkdafied beats.

If you feel the southside, then this album is what it is all about. I live in Cali, but H-town definitely knows what is up.

Lil Keke was already a freestyle legend before this cd and after it he became legend on the pen, the beats are all real good that go from that smooth r&b to the g'd up beats that make you turn your speakers up, roll the windows down, and cruise thru the mall parkin lot! On the reals though, a great album with great Texas lyrics, vicious flows from Keke and the rappers that collaborated on songs(big moe,mr.3-2,Al-d,Fat Pat,Phaz(singer),Hardheadz,DJ SCREW RIP), and a collage of beats that make listening to this a great experience. I recommend this album to everyone that likes quality Texas rap, S.U.C. suckafree puttin smoke in the air and jammin lil keke, I still remember the first time i heard southside(keke's hit) when it first came out in the late 90's mayne what a listening experience.
