William F. Houle is a middle-school student with an amazing imagination. When he approached his mother, author J.E. Taylor, with the idea for a trilogy about the son of Death, well she couldn’t resist the incredible story line William created and agreed to work with him to craft his idea into words. Thus Don’t Fear the Reaper was born. J.E. Taylor is a writer, a publisher, an editor, a manuscript formatter, a mother, a wife and a business analyst, not necessarily in that order. She first sat down to seriously write in February of 2007 after her daughter asked: “Mom, if you could do anything, what would you do?” From that moment on, she hasn’t looked back and now her writing resume includes six+ published novels along with several short stories on the virtual shelves including a few within eXcessica anthologies. Like the title said it's a good story. But there are a few grammar and punctuation mistakes. There will be a " at the beginning of the quote but there won't be another " to close off the quotation. At the beginning of the story it says Julia has golden brown eyes then later on it says she has pretty clear blue eyes. There should also be more plot twists. I can almost predict everything that's gonna happen next. I really like this story because its very original but it seriously does have some points that it needs to improve on.

I enjoyed this totally original story, and would recommend it for anyone. The characters are well rounded, the reader is able to identify with and feel for them. I felt as though as a 13 year old Nick was accepting the unusual things that were happening just a bit too easily, but that wasn't enough to impact the story. I found myself wanting to read more.

The idea of this book is absolutely original. The author also did a guest post on my blog and I found out that the book is co-written with her son which I think is a wonderful concept. But there are tons of punctuation mistakes. Little ones that pop up like a bad itch.

For instance, as far as I know, it isn't "ok" it's "okay" and every dialogue line should be a new line. I think the latter made it the most confusing of all. You think you are reading a description when snap, someone's line suddenly pops up. Maybe, I'm just being pedantic but if these errors hadn't been there, the reading experience may have been completely different.

Did all of this make the story any less captivating? Not really. You are still able to enjoy the plot and join Nick on his journey as he meets with death.

Would I recommend this read? Yes, to any patient reader.
