5.0 out of 5 stars A Talented Young Obscure Singer With A Great Voice and Album, May 12, 2008
By
MizKyGirl (Waukegan, IL, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Don't Rush It (Audio CD)
Not many people know about Tyren Perry. She's the sister of Family Matters' Jaimee Foxworth. She's a great singer, but she didn't get a lot of attention or promotion with this album. Tyren is a talented young singer, but she never received a lot of mainstream success. Here's my review on the album:

1.)I Get Butterflies (In My Stomach): Cute, sweet hip-hop like song.
2.) What's Up: Really cool song and Tyren sounds great on this.
3.) Hey Mr. Postman: One of two ballads on the album. It's cute, poppy, and very sweet.
4.) Don't Rush It: The title song. It sounds very upbeat R&B-ish. Still, it's pretty cool.
5.) You Are My Everything: The second ballad on the album. It sounds very R&B-like unlike the previous ballad that was very pop-music like.
6.) Better Late Than Never: Another cool, upbeat song. Fun to dance to.

A great album from a very rare obscure young female singer. I hope you enjoy the album!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good if not exceptional album from obscure but cute teen singer, November 10, 2007
This review is from: Don't Rush It (Audio CD)
Tyren Perry, the sister of actress Jaimee Foxworth, pursued a mildly successful singing career in the 80s, first in about 1985/86 as a member of the group Tahiti (best known for their soundtrack work on the animated "Ghostbusters" series), then a few years later as a solo performer. She made this album in 1989 (when she was still just 16), and it is a surprisingly well-crafted and listenable album for someone so young. She doesn't have the strongest voice, but she's cute and appealing on songs like "What's Up", "Do It", and "Better Late Than Never". She does use her voice to good effect on slower ballads like "You Are My Everything" and "Hey Mr. Postman".

5.0 out of 5 stars The one-hit wonder!, February 25, 2007

This review is from: Don't Rush It (Audio CD)
Coming from a very talented family, Tyren Perry, who starred on the TV show Bustin' Loose and guest starred on Diff'rent Strokes, Family Matters (with sister Jaimee Foxworth), Hull High, and TV 101, only released one album. It sounds corny now (as most late-80's young R&B singers do), but back in the day, it was really good! The modest hit "I GET BUTTERFLIES (IN MY STOMACH)" brings back memories of my days at Michigan State University. Other standout are ""WHAT'S UP" and "BETTER LATE THAN NEVER."

It was actually her sister who became more famous... or should I say infamous for role in porn movies. I'm not sure whatever became of Tyren Perry but I'm glad she released this album. It's become harder and harder to find so if you have the chance to cop... do so!
