Book Description

September 2009
When I first learned that I was pregnant, I thought this was going to be the most blessed, beautiful, rose-petals-at-my-feet-and-bluebirds-lighting-upon-my-forearm time of my life.

Then I went for my first prenatal visit.

Which starts with a weigh-in.

From comedian Anita Renfroe, already beloved by women's groups and YouTube viewers across America, comes this hilarious and brazenly honest look at motherhood and middle age. Famous for her live performance of the "Mom Song," which barrels through everything a mom says to her kids in a single day to the tune of the "William Tell Overture" (just two minutes and fifty-five seconds), in Don't Say I Didn't Warn You, Renfroe now turns her irreverent and daringly accurate comic eye to other female conditions.

In chapters with names like "Brother, Can You Spare an Epidural?" and "Playing Favorites (Or, As a Matter of Fact, I Do Love Your Brother More)," she dares to speak what other women are thinking--but don't say out loud. Using wit and honesty as her weapons of choice, Renfroe shares her deeply funny and relatable takes on everything from weddings to mammograms to every woman's never-ending quest for just one good photo of herself.

The world is a bounty of material for Renfroe; with it, she makes a feast of laughter for us all. Don't say we didn't warn you.

About the Author

Anita Renfroe is wife to her hunka burnin' love, John, and mother to three (semi-grown) children. When they are not standing at the luggage carousel in various airports looking for their bags so she can put on clean clothes and get to the next comedy concert, they reside in suburban Atlanta, where sweet tea is always on the menu.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Say I Didn't Warn You, April 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Don't Say I Didn't Warn You: Kids, Carbs, and the Coming Hormonal Apocalypse (Hardcover)
If there were lots more Anita Renfroe's in the world, then the world would be a much better place. All of her books and DVD's are treasures that make you relax and enjoy the everyday lives that women of all ages enjoy. When you are a young woman, you enjoy what Anita has to say, and when you are a grandma, you get laugh wrinkles when you remember the things she is talking about occurred in your life.
This is a perfect gift book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deja vu, December 12, 2009
This review is from: Don't Say I Didn't Warn You: Kids, Carbs, and the Coming Hormonal Apocalypse (Hardcover)
Anita is hilarious as always and if you haven't read her previous books, you'll enjoy this. However it is basically just excerpts from her previous books and routines. Unfortunately not much new here.

2.0 out of 5 stars I love Anita, but not this book, November 22, 2010
I really, really wanted to like this book. I wanted to have a good laugh. I didn't. This particular work by Renfroe seemed to rely on her incredibly popular Mom song, a you tube phenomena of Anita singing all of the cliched bits a mother tells her child/ren through a single day. The words to the mom song are printed in the beginning of this book. I loved the video of the Momsong.
I also enjoyed the stand up routines I have caught of Renfroe on television. I just like Renfroe - I feel like I can relate to her and her humorous perspectives on motherhood.
This book just fell short of really being funny. Anita has essays on childbirth, house work and dieting that are quite predictable. The book seems to lack originality. The chapters could have been written by any mom, and almost seemed cliched.
I do hope she writes another book, and somehow infuses it with fresh, new perspectives on modern day motherhood. I know she has the talent and ability to do so.
