EXCELLENT,
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Set Goals: The Old Way (Paperback)
Since 1974, I have purchased just about every motivational book and tape program available in my desire for maximum achievement. Wade Cook's 'DON'T SET GOALS" is without a doubt one of the very best. Too many other books out there focus on "affirmations", "swishes" "anchors" or subliminal suggestions. Wade Cook like Jim Rohn, teaches just be about it! Just do it! If you want to be rich, don't try to 'SWISH YOURSELF' into being rich do what rich people do. I also highly recommend Jim Rohn's book "7 keys to wealth & happiness" and tape program, "The Art of Exceptional Living" also Wade Cook's "Business buy the Bible" and of course THE BIBLE as the best personal development books out there

Good basic goal getting book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Set Goals: The Old Way (Paperback)
What Wade Cook teaches in this short, compact book is very similiar to one of the top success trainers in the world. It comes down to your core desires and "to be about it." Don't talk about it. Don't just set goals. Be a goal getter, not just a goal setter. Different but effective.

Move past setting goals to getting goals,
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Set Goals: The Old Way (Paperback)
Wade makes you look hard at what you've been doing with your goals. Are you content with just setting them? In this book, you are given a different perspective - far from the typical feel-good goal books. His approach is simple and aimed at not just setting goals, but getting goals! There are many things wrong with goal-setting, things that prevent us from reaching our dreams. This book points them out without hesitation with the hope, not that you will stop setting goals, but that you do it right and reach them.

Still a good read,
This review is from: Don't Set Goals: The Old Way (Paperback)
Occasionally, when I am waiting for my new batch of books to come in, I'll reread an older one.Don't set Goals "The old Way" is a compact, but value packed book. Reminds me of Brian Tracy's excellent books "Eat that Frog" and "Be A Sales Superstar" which are also compact in size but deliver a powerful message.Wade Cook is one of the top leaders of our time. The concepts revealed here by Wade are urgently needed in a time of financial chaos. Don't judge this book by it's size. It's a winner.

Don't set Goals: The Old Way is one of those books like As A Man Thinketh and Richest Man in Bablyon that is small in size but big on content. I like this book and highly recomend it to anyone who wants to be Goal Getter, and not just a Goal Setter.

This book reminds me of The Richest Man in Babylon and The Greatest Secret in the World, two excellent books that were short, low on content but packed with inspiration and value. As Wade says; 'Don't be a goal setter, be a goal getter." Setting goals is easy. Doing the activities that make those goals become reality is the hard part. I liked the quotes by Caryle, Emerson, Shakespeare, Blair, Coleridge, Goethe, McArthur, Wade Cook himself and the references to the bible.I also receommend Business Buy the Bible and of course The Bible.

Childish- Don't Waste Your Money On This Book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Set Goals: The Old Way (Paperback)
Very disappointed in this book. Vague, almost incoherent at times. Seems as though very little thought or energy went into this book. Almost reads like a childrens book. It's no wonder the type is do big, he really doesn't say much and seems to ramble just to fill up a few more pages.

Excellent and To The Point,
By
This review is from: Don't Set Goals: The Old Way (Paperback)
Cook advocates action. His approach is to be a doer, not a talker. He emphasizes the necessity of making changes happen rather than waste energy merely discussing it.Cook is openly Christian in the philosophy he uses. He quotes the Bible throughout this book and tells how his overriding objective is to someday hear God say "well done good and faithful servant." Money is not the ultimate objective, it's a tool for enhancing the quality of life for himself, his family, and other people. While communication is not as important as action, there is a place for it. Cook doesn't neglect its importance, but puts it in proper context as he develops his theme. I highly recommend this book if you want to be stimulated to improving the quality of your achievements.

If you're looking for a warm, fuzzy, feel good book about setting goals, this is not the book. Most motivational books fluff you up that "you can do it," "write it down," or "live the dream," only to pump up the reader to do absolutely nothing. Wade Cook, in a nut shell, provokes good "excuse making" folks to quit talking about it and just do it. True goal getting is the act of putting one foot in front of the other and doing whatever it takes to get the job done, no matter how hard. No more excuses. That's a concept. When you cut out all of the fluff, you get accountability. That's exactly what Wade Cook does. He holds the reader accountable. I liken him to a responsible parent or a tried and true friend. Give it to me straight. We need more of that. A good swift kick in the seat of the pants to put up or shut up.

Good things come in small packages...,
By jmk444 (Staten Island, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Don't Set Goals: The Old Way (Paperback)
This is a short, compact book that offers more inspiration than specific information, but it's title suggests that. It's not the usual investment guide by Wade Cook, the former Taxi driver turned stock mogul, it's a book that tries to impart that impetus for acting on your goals instead of just planning them. On that theme, it's excellent! The quotes throughout are great and the book itself makes clear just how precious this commodity we call time really is. Very well worth the read! |
