I didn't know much about George Jones, but I got this CD on a whim, and think its one of the finest pieces of American culture I've ever heard. It's a bunch of songs recorded in the 50s and represents all the things that I love about country music (the simple instrumentation, the pure melodies, the clever and heartfelt lyrics). Worlds away from today's country music. Really really really good, fun to sing along with country honk.

Super album! I came to this selection in hopes of finding some old Rockbilly cuts from George, and walked away totally satisfied! The man has got such a great voice I wondered if he ever had a Rock n' Roll past as so many Country Legends do; and was right on with this one. "Who Shot Sam" is just the sound I was looking for, but I found so much more here. Good old Country tracks that made me think of Hank, Lefty, and Jimmie! George really does belong in a class by himself, because of that voice, but he shows variety on this album with songs like "Don't Stop The Music", and Boogie Woogie Mexican Boy. If you enjoy George Jones 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, etc.; you'll love this album! Buy it with confidence. Enjoy!
