This review is from: Don't Stop The Music (MP3 Download)
THIS IS THE HOTTEST SONG. I just heard it and i had to race and buy the cd. I've always said after the Jacksons retire, i probably won't go to another concert but because of this song, now I'm ready to go see Rhianna in concert!!! I just hope she performs like a true entertainer with costume changes and having trademark stuff in it...

This is a typical pop song, all catch no substance. I tired of it after a few days, and regret that I spent real money on it, this is NOT a R&B song.

Rihanna's "Don't stop the music" is kind of catchy. Rihanna is expert at sampling her favorite songs, and blending it with her Caribbean style. "Don't stop the music" is fun, light, dancefloor style. It IS all about dancing and "let's be naughty." Rihanna thankfully doesn't take herself too seriously. She's unpretentious. In "Don't stop the music" she samples Manu Dibango's "Soul Makossa" and Michael Jackson's "Wanna be startin' somethin'' with her "ma ma co sa" chorus. "Don't stop the music" is fun;check out Manu Dibango's original "Soul Makossa" on Putumayo's "World Hits" and it's EVEN BETTER.

When it comes to dance divas, nobody has tried to deliver like Rihanna. But, after the surprise success of Umbrella, she hasn't really showed anything other than being a dance diva, although her collaboration with Ne-Yo on Hate That I Love You was a good collaboration. Her latest single, Don't Stop The Music, samples Michael Jackson's Wanna Be Startin' Something. The song has a nice tempo, but it sadly doesn't shine very well at all. This wasn't the only time she sampled another artists' work. Her other hit S.O.S. took on Soft Cell's Tainted Love. She really should try to do other songs that don't reflect too much in dance, because it doesn't have the feeling of being organic enough. Hopefully, she'll try to do that on her next single.
