Book Description

December 1996
Don't Sweat The Small Stuff was named a Good Morning America "Hot Pick" and awarded the "Listen Up Award: Best Audio of 1996" by Publishers Weekly Magazine.

Dr. Michael Mantell, a popular television, radio and print personality has thoughtful and practical advice for all of us who take life too seriously as he discusses friendship, sex, marriage, divorce, children, aging, health, exercise, drugs, stress and anxiety. His wit and wisdom leave no stone unturned.

Wendy Hall, a veteran of Los Angeles stage and theatre productions, adds a fresh and lively voice to this wonderful audiobook.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

A poor example of "Therapy in a Box," this program is based on marital therapist Mantell's book of the same name (Impact Pubs., 1988). Much of the direction revolves around assertiveness training, even discussing how to return merchandise in an assertive manner. Many of the quotes are dull: "Everyone gets angry one time or another"; "If you always win, it becomes boring"; and "Friends can be good medicine." Kahlil Gibran excerpts abound. Listening to discussions about control and relationships can be trying when the musical interludes sound like Andy of Mayberry whistle tunes. Gentle, unintrusive indicators would have been more effective. The reading by Wendy Hall is crisp, but it is much too theatrical and comes off as pontificating. It isn't her fault as a reader, for we normally hear much enunciation and pronunciation from those who are correcting or scolding us. Better to hear self-awareness suggestions from one's reading inner voice, without external reflection. This audiobook is the wrong medium for a questionable message. Not recommended.?Gerald A.
